So why wouldn’t you use Machamp vs Aerodactyl?

It doesn’t carry any flying moves, it’s steel moves are weak (non-STAB) and only hyperbeam hits hard (again non-STAB).

I knew it, people said I was crazy for telling this as an example of machamp being bad

Mechamp's steel moves dont do much, Aggon would be a heck of a lot better as an option (due to STAB), mostly because machamp cannot take hits which you need against aerodactyk becayse its a glass cannon

No, no... people said you were crazy for relying on this one example to prove Aggron is even in the same overall ballpark as Machamp. That the OP is just as wrong as you are isn't a victory.

Actually, my point is that Machamp is one of the most powerful and versatile Pokémon in the game. Having a bunch of good high level machamps can allow you to do a lot of things in the game right now including defeating a boss that “.9996 resists” the moves with over 30s to spare. They have also has been used to defeat a T3 boss solo that resists at 0.714 (granbull).

While I would never claim that Machamp is the best option, after the last two events it’s only a dust limited option instead of a rare candy limited option.

So if anything this is just more proof that the other guy's anti-Machamp crusade is flat-out bonkers. Even in situations it's disadvantageous in it at least wins.

This doesn't support your irrational crusade at all. You wouldn't use Machamp against Aerodactyl because the typing is disadvantageous. You would use Kyogre or Raikou, because both resist potential Steel moves and deal Super Effective damage in return, either from an enormous attack stat (Kyogre) or using the one of the best Charged Moves in the game (Wild Charge). They both win in ~120 seconds. Don't have legendaries? Gary gets the job done in 135 seconds. A L40 perfect Aggron with the most advantageous moves? A full 37 seconds slower than the best two, with the same amount of deaths.

Jesus dude, no. For one you don't want an army of low DPS tanks when raiding - lasting longer doesn't mean a thing if you can't beat the raid boss in time. If you're part of a group it guarantees you're cheating yourself out of damage balls.

Second, you don't use disadvantageous situations to argue why something is bad. Of course Machamp is a terrible choice against Aerodactyl, that doesn't stop it from being the best at a hundred other things. Are you gonna tell me Mewtwo is bad because it gets stomped in Tyranitar raids? Or Rayquaza sucks because an Articuno raid would make short work of it?

No species can be the best at everything. That is how type matchups work.

What makes Machamp the champ is that it excels at the most essential role in the game (attacking Normal-type tanks in gyms) and three other important roles: Tyranitar raids, Absol raids and Regitrio raids. No other species, not even Mewtwo or Rayquaza, can claim to have three highly significant roles (with a single moveset).

Because is still flying type, fighting vs flying deals 0.714x damage, fighting vs rock deals 1.4 damage, so fighting type deals only 1x damage. Better option is taking water, grass, steel, ice or electric types mons versus Aerodactyl.

Not grass. Like fighting, the flying-type of Aerodactyl neutralises the advantage against rock.

Ice isn't really an ideal choice either because of Aerodacty's potential steel and rock moves, although the water typing that a few have will neutralise the former.

Oh, sorry, my mistake. But still are better choices (like water, electric and steel types).

Don't forget rock, it's also super effective. Certainly not as good as water or electric types, but Golem gets the job done against Aerodactyl just fine.

I have level 40 kyogre raikous and zapdos. No need for machamps...

They don't even need to be maxed to be the best counter against Aerodactyl. Level 30 of one of each, along with Gary, Vape and Jolteon as back ups, can solo him.

Yesterday with rainy weather i finished aero raid with 80 seconds left. Kyogre and raikou murder aero....

You don't even need the legendaries. A team of level 30 Vapes and Jolteons can solo Aerodactyl.

Isn't everyone missing the point? OP isn't claiming that Machamp is a good Aero counter, they're just demonstrating that it can get the job done. People have done Machamp vs Machamp solos before just because they could, not because it's an optimal matchup.
