Snorlax with Lick

Does anyone regulary use Snorlax with any of the Lick movesets for attacking? What do you use it against?

I have a ~2200 LH Snorlax, but I've only ever used it a few times for attacking. My main use for it has been as a buddy pokemon when I wanted to walk with a Snorlax so I could keep my ZH and ZE Snorlaxes in gyms.

Just as there is no really great choice to use against Snorlax, I don't really see any great choice to use Snorlax against. Maybe if it had a normal type quick move like Tackle, then I could at least see using it against another Snorlax.

I use my 2 Lick/HB Snorlax for attacking gyms and my 2 ZH (HB and BS) to put into gyms.

It's a nice generalist attacker with lots of HP. Lick charges HB very quickly and I only dodge charge moves.

Of course it depends what mons I'm facing but for example 1 of my Lick Snorlax killed 2 Gyarados (2600 and 2700cp) in a row pretty easily this morning.

Maybe some people will disagree but I always like to have at least 1 Lax in my team when attacking gyms.

It's always a good addition to your roaster ?

I agree. And it does exceptionally well against the top Psychic defenders, Eggy and Slowbro.

My brother is at a pretty low level (25), and he uses his L/BS Snorlax as a generalist attacker. It's pretty good, but slow. If you have all or most pokémon available, there should always be a better choice - because as you said, Snorlax doesn't really counter anything.

Except it kinda counters Shadow Claw Gengar, but I guess MS/EQ Rhydon would be better.

It's best attribute is its tankiness. There is no real specific "great" matchup to use him in when it comes to gyms, especially among common defenders. He'll always perform well in general, but nothing says "USE SNORLAX!" except maybe Alakazam, and even then I'd rather go bug...

I use a L/HB snorlax as an attacker. Lick does steady damage and builds energy. He's tanky enough to stand and take it while waiting for the hyberbeam to fry whatever. If I want to dodge, he's nimble enough to do so. The only disadvantage is that his attack stats aren't as high as dragonite or alakazam. So, winning is a little slower. Although, he doesn't have type advantage against common defenders, he is not weak against anything that matters. Think of him as Wiggly grown up.

Lick Snorlax generates a ton of energy for big STAB hyper beams and body slams, but there are much better Pokémon with higher attack stats -- most importantly that will win battles more quickly.

But Snorlax has so much HP that he can beat a lot of Pokémon before fainting, especially dodging like crazy between Lick spamming. So he's effective, he's just slower than the big boy attackers (Dragonite, Zam, etc.)

Cheers

I'm not sure there is anything that is "much better" than Snorlax as attacker. There are some preferable matchups where Snorlax isn't as strong, but what he lacks in strengths he makes up for in being a robust mon altogether.

I find L/BS and L/HB Snorlax to be the best attacker if you don't know what you're doing. It's so big that it's easy to use even if you don't know what you're doing. Sure, Alakazam is a stronger attacker, but he can't do as much damage if he feints so quickly.

A dodged level 35 Hyper beam from a Snorlax or Dragonite is still punishing.

I have a Lick/HB Snorlax I'm willing to use to attack anything besides Snorlax.

Though, my Snorlax eventually has trouble against DP Gengars.

I use my 2700CP L-BS one to counter Lapras and for defense, its pretty good.

yeah, I sometimes use him against Lapras if I'm tired of my Arcanine for every fight

My favorite moveset for attacking is Lick/Body Slam, but Hyper Beam works fine, too. Snorlax is so bulky he can eat some damage during the long cooldown. But BS is like Dragon Claw, it's so awesome.

Lick/Body Slam Snorlax is truly one of the best attackers, period. (Check out Pokebattler.) I really like to dodge, even when using Snorlax, and there is nothing like taking out 4 or 5 defenders in a row. Body Slam is so much fun to attack with!

Lick/BS Snorlax and DB/DC Dragonite are probably the two most versatile attackers in the game right now. Both have very good energy-generating quick moves with which you can dodge effectively, and the short cooldown on the charge moves means not only you can dodge everything, but you can also spam "double special" if your energy bar is full, using two DC or BS back to back.

Snorlax may be more time-consuming to use as an attacker, and less potion-efficient than Dragonite, but he's still incredibly effective at fainting many pokemon before fainting itself.

Add a WG-AT Vaporeon to the mix, and you've a group of attackers that can kill anything in the game effectively while dodging and taking minimal damage.
