Should i get rid of my Alolan eggs or 2ks?

When the Squirtle event happens and egg distance drops, I know that the 2k's are the most efficient for stardust farming, but those dumb 7k's take up space and take so long to get rid of. but are the least efficient for dust.

im trying to stock up on 10k's for the next event, I believe its following go fest when hatch candy will be increased (assuming that research milestone is reached) and wondering if it would be better to clear out as much space as possible for 10k's or get more dust, as I am lacking in both

Like you say, get those 10k for the next event. Egg distance drop is not so good.
You can use your infinite incubator on the 2km eggs and thats it. Alolan eggs wont leave, and 10k egg's candy is more valuable. That is if you still need it (beldum, dratini, etc)

That I do need the candy, but im wondering if it would be better to just get rid of the 7k's with the infinite incubator during the CD, or the 2k's first?

Get rid of as many 2k as possible during the event. Then, when you know the end of the event is close and you won't have time to hatch another 2k egg, start incubating a 7k (or several if you can afford) before the CD ends. The shortened distance will remain after CD.

Ok, thanks.

I dont get why the made the alolan eggs take so much distance, they arent even worth walking normally

I can tell you why, they didn't want everyone to get all the alolan species fast without spending money on incubators. It's a simple way of prolonging the new content.

Yeah, that is true, but when gen IV comes out that wouldn't need to artificially stretch stuff out

if they wanted to prolongue content, they should have made them stupid rare and take forever and a day to get

Walking 2ks during reduced distance is inadvisable because of the distance update intervals. Since the distance is updated every 4 minutes, if you take more than 4 minutes to walk the 500m, you will be walking the same egg for 8 minutes, which likely wastes a lot of distance. With larger eggs, you lose much less distance to the update intervals.

7ks are better for dust than 5ks and 10ks so I would probably go with them for the CD. 1,75km distance should be doable in 16 or 20 minutes each.

For comparison, 8 minutes per 2km egg amounts to 22 hatched eggs ie. 44 km worth of walking. 20 minutes per 7km egg amounts to 9 hatched ie. 63km worth of walking. That's a huge difference.

(There was recently talk of the interval being changed to 8 minutes but I'm not sure if that was reverted. If it still applies, larger eggs become an even better idea during the event.)

I read on the event guide that 2s were the most efficient for distance/stardust, and I wont walk 500 m in 4 minutes, I dont think you could even move that fast without tripping the speed lock

If you are focusing on maximizing distance per egg, then the 4 (8) min refresh time can waste some distance walked if you have 2km eggs in your incubators.
If its not going to be your main activity, then its ok but you should still try to time the distance correctly so that you dont waste time walking for nothing.
I for example will be taking things relaxed this CD (squirtle is not very important), so if I see that my egg is 0.4/0.5, I can walk the 100m in 1 min and chill the other 3 (7).

Im going to be focusing hatching eggs, squirlte's not a high priority aside from just novelty, but im more concerned with getting rid of as many eggs as I can, but im not one of those super dedicated maximize every resource to the fullest extent people, I use rarecandy on nonlegendaries and super incubators on 5k's, my main goals to get as many 10k's as possible

You can easily move that fast. I do 100m just looping my stops. 125m/minute is equivalent to 7.5 kph equivalent to about 4.65 mph.

It's still below the speed limit(which is about 10km/h), but it's certainly faster than your average walking speed.

I would beg to differ on 7km eggs being better for dust. They are actually pretty atrocious for dust, especially when considered on a per km basis. The following totals shown in the image were from alolan eggs hatched on a starpiece.

8 data points isn't exactly proof of anything, you just had a string of bad luck, or those are from the first alolan egg batch which had worse stardust rewards. Results from other people seem to indicate that they give out 5k+2k for 1200-2400, which amounts to an average of 257 dust/km, more than the average 240 dust/km that 5ks and 10ks give.
