Shiny Magikarp Raid
Is there any confirmation a Shiny Magikarp can be encountered from a raid, and a higher chance than in the wild? I've heard multiple players say there's an increased chance of encountering a shiny from raids, but none of these players making the claim have gotten a shiny from a raid themselves.

The number I've heard is 1% from a raid. I've done maybe 10 raids, didn't get one (not surprising). I've caught 278, two of which are shiny, so that's also about 1%. (A bit less, I should have 2.78 now. I'll ask Niantic for my .78 shiny magikarp after the holiday hoopla dies down.) So maybe not an increased chance for shiny, but a guarantee that it's got at least fair IVs is nice.
Yeah, I'm hoping for a better chance at good IV's. I have a shiny with ~73% IV and 1800+ candies, but I'd still rather the investment go towards a respectable IV. I can't justify 400+ candy, even with surplus, to evolve and boost a red Gyarados. I caught a shiny Sableye and 2 shiny Duskull right after they released, but all the shinies I've caught have trash IV's.
Additionally, Gyarados is one that you need to grind out (unless you hang out in a karp rich biome), so when Gen3 comes out, and there are new moves for Gary (speculated, but likely), then grind out another and another. That's my strategy, I just evolved my 4th, and am looking forward to seeing the new movesets and getting a fifth. It's not worth worrying too much about, either Gyarados gets better, and becomes more important in the meta, or it stays the same/gets worse, in which case it remains a high CP second tier mon and dex filler.
