Is anyone else hoping sceptile wont get frenzy plant? Or at least if it does, they also give it a better grass fast move/buff bullet seed.

With roserade getting grass knot, it kinda took a bit of the hype out of when this CD would come, at least for me. Roserade has the better fast move and much more attack, while sceptile does have the better charge move, bullet seed isnt the best move. It's a bit like the totadile CD in that while it is good, we know theres something better in another pokemon, the only difference being that for totodile, Swampert hasnt gotten a Cd yet, and theres still time for it to even not get Hydrocannon. So it will be great in the meantime (like it was against groudon). Sceptile however doesnt really have a chance against roserade, as its already out, we know its better. (quick check on the DPS TDO spreadsheet has roserade ~.5> above sceptile against both thunder and hydropump kyogre, and similar roserade above sceptile results for other match ups where both take damage of the same effectiveness level as well as slightly better TDO, against ground type, for example groudon, roserade's DPS is still above sceptile's (~.7-.8), but its TDO is notably lower)

Personally, I'm hoping for Outrage or dragon claw, mostly for PvP, as sceptile wont be making any impact in the meta relevant dragons raid wise, but could be a lot better for PvP (Fc charges moves quite fast, and the very spam-able nature of DC and LB would make a strong combo as an early game shieldbreaker/late game sweeper and could contest some ultra league heavies like giratina and seemingly up and coming Ice beam suicune). That, and mega sceptile is part dragon so i'm hoping much like ampharos/mamoswine's CD , it gets an off type move for use that isnt just raids/gyms.

But knowing niantic, it's probably Frenzy plant.

I wouldn't be shocked if it did get Frenzy Plant, but it would be a tad disappointing. Leaf Blade is already a great move in both PvE and PvP and, as you said, with Roserade being given Grass Knot, FP Sceptile won't be making any waves.

A dragon move would be an interesting choice, but even with a mega evolution down the line, it would be competing with mega Salamence and Rayquaza (which will likely be much better).

I could also see them giving Sceptile Leaf Storm (which I believe was added to the code not long ago, but currently nothing learns it). If memory serves me, Blaze Kick and Muddy Water were also added into the code, which would be fitting moves for Blaziken and Swampert during their respective community days.

The former signature moves for the other two would be great, had no idea leaf storm was added.

Agree with the dragon part, mega salamence outstats so heavily (plus its also pretty bulky for what it is). I'm glad im not the only one a bit underwhelmed by the prospect of FP sceptile and hoping for something else.

If we went back in time, the prospect of FP Sceptile as a glass cannon grass attacker would've sounded nice, but then GN Breloom happened. And then GN Roserade happened and knocked everyone off the grass throne. But hey, at least the shiny looks cool!

Agreed.

Only other possible grass type that stands a chance is sky forme shaymin, but when something's second best to a mythical, and likely a one time only mythical at that, that's pretty impressive.

Though can we get a moment for GK breloom, only had 2 weeks

I can see Blaziken getting Blaze Kick in CD. But Muddy Water in main games is just a variation of Surf, so I don't think it will be Swampert's CD move when it is likely to be another Surf.

Sceptile may get Dragon Claw which fits its agility in main games and anime. Leaf Storm is also famous for Sceptile, but it has not yet been added to the code.

I wouldn‘t necessarly think about Muddy Water like that. Sure, it is pretty much a Surf clone in the maingames, but even there has a few differences to Surf being not 100% accurate and having a chance to lower the enemys accuracy, so I think they could easily pull Muddy Water like a Leaf Bladeish Surf variation. I could imagine it with like 2 seconds cooldown, 70 power and 3 bars for example. Also, other moves like the elemental punches for example have in Go more differences than in the maingames, power and cooldown for that matter, while they are pretty much the same in the maingames save type and secondary effect.

Sceptile has the stats to do Frenzy Plant justice and the quick move to do it justice very quickly. Looking forward to it

I was gonna suggest that Sceptile would get Razor Leaf, or Vine Whip. Either would make it a grass monster. But it seems that neither of those moves are available for it in the main series games, so I don't know.

Rumors about Leaf Storm are interesting, so instead of a quick hitter, it gets the heavy hitter as the new move. DPE better be really high to compete with Leaf Blade.
