Rhydon vs thunder?

Would a perfect iv lvl 40 rhydon be a good substitute for a lower level lower iv grass type for use against thunder?
His mud slap does 9dmg at lvl 40 15atk and although he does take 25dmg per waterfall he will resist thunder more than the grass types
Woukd resisting thunder so heavily make up for him taking waterfall hits harder? Would he do as much damage as a grass type with less iv and a lower level?? Trying to make battle parties for kyogre so I’m truing to figure out who to put where. Groudon is already in the team since he resists thunder also and hits with solar beam. Rhydon does lack That but like I said I’m comparing my rhydon to a lower level grass. Not Groudon
Any input is appreciated.

Groudon is already in the party. Sorry should have added that so as to not get everyone saying the same thing haha

No, it would not be a good subsitute. At level 40, Rhydon has comparable TDO to the worse grass types on level 30, but its DPS is much worse. You really need to be dealing super effective damage.

Further, Rhydon is doubly weak to water, and Kyogre's Waterfall quick attack will crush Rhydon, no matter how much it resists the Thunder charged attack. Eggy is an optimal choice here, or even Jolteon (leaving out the more effective Raikou, Zapdos). Kyogre is weak to grass and electric, Eggy resists water and electric, and jolteon resists electric and is neutral to water. Pretty clear cut.

Yeah. Groudon has only a single weakness, Mud Shot has good EPS and dodging, and Solar Beam is strong against Kyogre.

Rhydon has a double weakness, Mud-Slap has lower EPS and bad dodging, and it has no good charge move against Kyogre.
