Rhydon place in current/future meta

Hi Guys, what are your views as per title.
I have only 1 usable LV 30 Rhydon with double ground moves.
I do not see any further need for more as I never use Rhydon in the previous or current gym meta as there are no electric defenders.

But Raikou is here for 1 month and I do not have any other ground attackers.
Is it worth it to power up/get more for this particular month?
Will there be any other uses for Rhydon after Raikou leaves Asia?
I know it evolves into Rhyperior in Gen 4 but that's quite some time away.

Currently I have 318 Rhyhorn candy and 2.7m stardust at trainer LV39.
I have 1 lv30 Rhyhorn but bad IV.
And 3 Rhydon from raids:
87% RS/SE
84% MS/Megahorn
84% MS/E

How many Golems do you have left over from fighting legendary birds? Those can be good alternatives. Still okay if they have only rock moves. Whatever you use against Raikou will also be useful against Entei next month.

I have 2 LV30 Golem with rock moves.

But rock moves does not do SE damage against Raikou so it still usable?
Both of my golem are CP24xx

Depends on how much you raid this month and how much you want a high IV Raikou. Ground rhydons are the best dog to fight this dog, no question, no debate, no gray area, a fact. Also, Raikou is the best dog, period. For a whole 3 months you'd be walking around with your shoe untied in relation to dog catching--first by having only suicune available, 2nd having plenty of resources but no obvious supreme counter for Raikou, 3rd month raiding for a very marginally superior fire fighter.

My opinion, and it may be pointed but a question you asked

The gen 4 evolution looks pretty badass. Other than that, I almost never use mine because his moves suck.

You almost answer yourself. Despite being a strong pokemon and having a future evolution (in a year time?), Rhydon has little use in the game. I would say that if you have 3-4 pokemon with earthquake you are all set for Raikou. That includes Rhydon, Donphan, golem, nidoking, etc. I'm sure you have at least one good of each. So, I wouldn't invest in the low IV rhydon that you currently have. Wait and see if you get a good IV one and maybe then you can bring 2 rhydon in your team.

That's the problem I only have 1 Rhydon with double ground moves.
The Rhydon's I got were from raid when it was first launch and I don't think I can get a better IV one.
Now no one does Rhydon raid anymore not even at a mall or train station here in Singapore.

In that case maybe evolve some high level Rhydon and don't worry about IVs. IVs are only a large factor for long-term investments anyways.

I saw Gamepress list of counter for Raikou and Exeggutor is a good counter?
I know it will receive NVE damage from Raikou moves and just that makes it a good counter?
If yes I can just dump my C/SB eggs which I used for suicune in my match up.

In addition to resisting Electric, Eggy with Confusion/Solar Beam does some of the highest neutral DPS in the game.

What is your current lineup you use to fight Raikou?

You're level 39, I expect you to have at least two maxed Dragonites. If you lead off with those, add your L30 Rhydon, use some Golems and Donphan to fill the rest, you should do very well.

Was busy playing Fifa 18 yesterday so didn't raid.
Am at work now and will be heading out for my 1st Raikou raid in 2 hours time.

I just evolved my lv 30 bad IV Rhyhorn and got RS/SE so I cant use it.
This would be my lineup:
1. LV30 double ground Rhydon
2. LV40 DT/O Dragonite.
3. LV30 C/SB Exeggutor
4. LV30 C/SB Exeggutor
5. LV30 C/SB Exeggutor
6. LV30 B/C Tyranitar

I have a lv20 donphan with tackle/Play rough
I have 38 CTM but am too afraid to try and get earthquake

You have ctms galore but don't use them for fear of not getting the right move? That sounds bizarre to me. Don't you think they are there to be used?

Unless its atk iv are disastrous, in your place I would even consider investing one or two ctms in your level 30 rhydon (and an additional qtm if it works out). You would have one more top counter right off the bat, and let's face it, you are not exactly well-stocked on those. Your choice of course, but I for one currently have 0 ctms and don't feel bad about it at all considering I have invested them all to improve my line-up for raids.

I don't get it either, it is a game, not saving pocket change for a university education. Also some of us have fought dozensx4 Raikous, but ok, even if you can't "gamble" on a charged TM, a Stone Edge Rhydon still resists and survives long enough--go ahead use an MS/SE even with the bad IVs, nobody dodges, they want to get hit

Ok i listened to the both of you and use my Ctm and got earthquake of my 1st try!
Use a Qtm too and finally have another usable Rhydon.

Gonna use this guy tomorrow.
Thx guys

I just got back from a raid and guess what I got a 95% on my 1st ball woohoo!!
My 2nd raikou ran but it had 1870cp and did not use any GRB

I was there when the hatch egg so lobby had 20 n 19 players.
I only used 1 rhydon and 1 dragonite.

Also got a tyranitar.
Had a good day today.

That is some good luck, I caught 25 of them...one at 1902, four others at 1900. As the crowd thins, consider keeping that good luck by trying a charge TM.

Thanks mate.
I will wait till Raikou is gone before I use my tm.
I used a ctm on my 95% hydro pump lugia, the next day I caught an exact same iv distribution but with double psychic lol

It's good that you have 1 powered up but I would say that 1 is all you need. High dps non-super-effective mons will do just fine against Raikou eg Dragonite.

Groudon looks pretty amazing. Gen 3 pure ground legend 4112 max cp. I think Im gonna power this up as my main ground mon assuming it doesnt learn mudslap.
