Raid Times

I did a raid yesterday and one of the raiders mentioned something about the end times of raids being extended to 9:00 pm. Is there any validity to that? To my knowledge raids had been ending around 7:30. It would be nice if that were the case considering it's staying lighter later now.

It seems to vary across the world. Here in the UK, raid times used to end at 7:30 but it's been about 9:30 for a few months now.

So yes, it's definitely possible your area now has extended times.

Reportedly raid times have been extended for most of the world except the Americas.

Has anyone found out why there isn't an extension in Raids for the Americas?

I don't know if this is specific to Americas, but one reason could be due to legal issues. Various Parks Departments have tried to strong-arm Niantic about their game taking place in public parks without their permission. If you want an example look up what happened regarding Lake Park in Milwaukee, WI in regards to PoGo players.

They are routing players to EX eligible parks (people here barely care anymore though). However, in my area most of those parks will be closed by park police by 8pm. Even with the extra sunlight.
