Raid Pass Question
So this morning I was going to take down a few gyms when I saw a Machamp raid in the distance with less than 10 minutes left. So I hurried to it and in my rush to get in I forgot to spin the gym to pick up my free raid pass. However after completing the raid and spinning the gym I was not able to get a free raid pass.
So did the game use a premium raid pass or did it auto-spin the gym for me and use the free pass?

If you have not received a daily raid pass yet today, and do not have one from a previous day, the game automatically spins the gym for you when you view it while within spinning range.
If you are within the 5 min cooldown period when you can't spin the stop (likely only possible if you you used a previous day's raid pass to start a raid but then backed out) then the game will give you just a raid pass without spinning when you reenter the gym.
This is at least one place where Niantic has included a very sensible user friendly function without first being begged by the community for several months.
Someone at a raid said that the autospinning for a daily raid pass only happens if the gym currently has an ongoing raid. I haven't paid enough attention to confirm or deny.
