Question to community

Lets be honest, how many spoofers visit the site here?
I just found out my co-worker is a spoofer, been wondering how he got all those stacks of the newest Mons. I tried spoofing for like 5min on his phone, not exactly my cup of tea so to each his own. Curious how many spoofers are here.

Obviously it is anonymous.
Thumbs up if you spoof
Thumbs down if you don’t.

There's some people near me who obviously do.

Saturday morning there's one guy who had *all* the local gyms filled with 3500 CP Salamences. Same guy who had all the gyms full off capped near-perfect 4500-CP slakings the day after they came out.

There's no way they did that legit. I'm just amazed PoGo doesn't have a method to monitor this.

PoGo doen't have a method to monitor this but does have a way to softband me for using an app to find out IV's and movesets.

POGO doesn't do that if your apps don't (potentially) break the TOS. Calcy IV, pokegenie etc are safe.

The app only tells IV, moveset and helps to calculate the power up costs. I had been using it for over a year. One day, I got soft-banded and things return normal a few days later after I deleted the app.

And it's understandable: fake location apps doesn't interact with niantic servers and your IV checker does

To be fair, there are people here who had 3500 CP Salamence and Metagross they day after because they drove around all night hunting Bagon and Beldum with Pinap Berries using the local scanner map. Don't get me wrong, I consider that cheating also, but I'm just saying that people grinding rare and 100% Pokemon fast even without spoofing.

To me, it takes the satisfaction out of encountering something rare or 100% if you know exactly where to fnd it, as well as the level, gender, IV and moveset. For me, hatching or catching perfect or rare Pokemon is a huge thrill and I would never want to change that.

I feel the same way. Finally stumbled upon an Unown without maps or spoofing and I can't imagine it would have felt as good if I had just fished it out of a barrel.

> they drove around all night hunting Bagon and Beldum with Pinap Berries using the local scanner map

Map is the key, if there is no map, then it's impossible to get multiple slakings/salamance overnight.

Considering I bike everywhere, sometimes up to 6km one way, I feel fine using a map. So I have help finding pokemon, so what? I still need to physically pedal through the cold to get there and still catch it, that's not enough?
Spoofing on the other hand, lol well, that lazy bunch of cheaters just suck.
Everything they have done, from catching the whole unown alphabet, to having 3 of the shiny Aron family, nothing is impressive. I mean, absolutely everything they have done, I see as worthless. Your collections impress maybe some of the ants on the ground, and perhaps they stroke your ego that you're some sort of master. You're not. I find the LV 29 parents who manage to catch a single legendary more impressive and accomplished than you.

To be fair, spoofing doesn't actually increase your chance of getting shinies.

Up

Down

When you sit on your butt and just teleport to different nests, yes it does.

Up

Their ratio is still the same as any other player's. Consider that even going to a nest every day doesn't mean you automatically earn a higher percentage of shinies than a normal player. Maybe a spoofer could feasibly get more, but they would still need to catch a proportionally higher ratio of pokemon in general just to get said shinies, even if they do so from their couch.

Hey... I have found four legal shiny Arons...

I'm having a hard time believing they got 10 near-perfect Bagons overnight by driving around.

Closest to spoofing would be how my phone GPS drifts to the middle of nowhere on rare occasions. I was like Jesus when the GPS sent me over a lake. Also that one time when my character got sent to some part of the city I've never been to and watched my character make its way home from there. Was quite a sight.

I refuse to do it (or use our new map; at that stage, I mean, just drop the pretense of "playing" this game and have the ability to download whatever 100% Pokemon you want).

But nearly EVERYONE in our local group does it now. I'm one of just a few holdouts left.

If nearly everyone in your group does it, you should realize that's not how it works. But good for you.

I know exactly how it works. I was making a logical extension. But thanks anyway for the snark.

I don't really see what the big deal is. Have you ever played any electronic game where people didn't take every advantage they could get? In my area, good luck taking down a legendary without them.

Up

People do all sorts of things in all facets of life to 'gain an advantage'
For me, the 'He started it' excuse doesn't make it acceptable for others to replicate questionable actions.

What you are willing to do, and how far you are prepared to go, is what will define you - whether it is a game or anything else.

Sure. I'm a decent person. I donate to charity. I shovel my neighbors drive for free. I call my mom. My morals are defined, everyone likes me. I also work 50+ hours a week and live miles from the nearest pokestop. This is a game you play on your phone, not a religion. Get off your high horse brotha, and don't question my morality. Christ...

I think aSp may be coming from the “right or wrong view point” from a gym dominance perspective, rather than questioning your morality as a person.

As you know, although spoofing has the potential to greatly improve raid experiences (such as those that live in rural areas), it has the potential, when abused*, to neglect players in certain areas from having an equal opportunity (as other players of opposites living in the same area) to collect coins. Not being affected by it personally, I have read stories about inidividuals that still have difficulty receiving their daily max due to the spoofers in their community. While since the new gym rework it has been easier for the overall population as a whole to obtain coins, there are some that are still negatively impacted by the abuse of spoofing.

I am not affected by spoofing so my stance is relatively neutral. Seeing from your post you live in a very inconvenient area to interact with the game which I understand and don’t fault you for, but my purpose with this post is to shed light on how spoofing can be seen by some as undesirable, hence which is why he may have replied “defines who you are”

Right on. I'm a 47 yr old engineer, and I can only play a few minutes a day. There is no way I can compete without it, I learned that early when red team destroyed me in minutes when I did walk somewhere. I don't have tons of maxed out mons, just trying to stay in the game. It's not that big of an advantage

Up

So when you don't have time to do a specific task you are interested in then it is acceptable to cheat.

Got it...thanks

Up

It's no different if you only had a few minutes to play some sort of first person shooter on the xbox. You'd probably get wrecked, that said, it's not a license to just cheat. Hack the system and give yourself invincibility.

Up

Thanks EruptHonorFace...you got it.

The guy that gets kicked out of a gym when no one around only knows it was a spoofer - in that instance, that is all that defines the person doing the spoofing. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have an opinion...not a high horse.
Now learn to deal with a different opinion - it will make your life easier.

If you need to make this a debate about morals, then I can play.
Personally, I don't choose to define my morals by some of my actions, and then use my 'good moral credit' to do some things that go against myself, as an offset.
If you need to make it about 'moral standing' then I personally believe my moral standing is based on everything in entirety - not a credit system I can draw against when I want to do something dodgey.

...but as long as what others do, and what they are happy to do doesn't effect me or mine then I really don't care - but I am entitled to my opinion just as you are entitled to yours.

You have a shiny Rapidash.

Up

What difference does that make?
Is my level going to tell you something about me...or give you some kind of deep insight upon which you can draw conclusions about me?

Why do you ask?

Up

Forget it. I'm only lvl 37 and have been playing since day one. Been spoofing for a year. If you're level 40 and you don't, I think you need to get a job.

Up

Then let me take great pleasure in telling you I am lvl37...never spoofed.

I am of similar age to you, children older than many posting on here, and we run our own family business.

Nope. I really don't care. The question was asked and I answered honestly. Play how you want and don't judge, k?

You wanted to know my level specifically so you could pass judgement.

Thanks for answering honestly.
I hope you can accept that I have a different opinion on this one specific matter.
It was never my intention to make it personal...it was my intention to discuss the topic, not the person.

Where are you at anyway? So I can take over your gyms lol

Haven't, aren't and never will.

What's the fun in just sitting on your fat arse and doing fuck all? The game was made to be out playing, looking for those little creatures, grinding etc.

It might not be "fun" when the weather is shit, but that's part of the challenge. I've been out in freezing cold weather with snow blowing all around me and my beard being frozen solid, just to spin some Pokestops, catch a few Pokemon and hatch some eggs.
Once there was a massive downpour of rain that left me more wet than when I've been swimming in a lake. There was also thunder and lightning around me, which wasn't exactly safe, so I had to run home.
There's simply no adventures like that when you spoof ;)

Luckily there's not a lot of spoofing in my area and nobody here likes people who do it.

P.S. I do however think that the game early on sent me away to England a few times. I've heard of drifting, but that was insane. Never had any Pokemon spawn however, so I couldn't catch any to see exactly where I was.

I see no point in spoofing, as the travel and social interaction is what makes the game fun for me. Nevertheless, I am occasionally tempted to due to GPS glitches and regionals (especially Torkoal).

As for SGPokeMap, it enhances my experience, by encouraging me to explore different areas to grab rares and strike up conversations with complete strangers who are doing the same.

Up

Down

Regionals suck, I think al rational people can agree on that!

Up
0
Down

Side note: it's very difficult to do. Most people can't do it. I have a special phone just for this, and it wasn't easy to make it work.

Up
0
Down

At that point, if you put in so much extra work and resources just to play a game in a way contrary to It's intention, why don't you just play something else? There are so many free games out there that you can play a couple minutes a day that require no extra steps to work and do not negatively affect anyone else playing.

Level 34 started about a month after release. Usually play about an hour a day while I walk the dog

1. flash older android version
2. root
3. install spoofer app as system app
4. unroot
Is that all? I would like to do that to my current phone after I got a new one. lol

I think downloading an emulator and one of the original Pokemon games would be even easier, if you really want to catch Pokemon from your bed
