PvP giving rare candy reward

I just did an ultra battle, one of my 3 for the day. Twice rewarded with 500 stardust, third time 1 rare candy. I’ve been fortunate to have gotten 20+ stones already: PvP, research breakthrough, 7 day spin streak, etc.

Well, I read (skimmed) the melodramatic thread a few topics down and I didn’t see (glance) at any mention of rare candy as a reward possibility. Anybody else get an unexpected reward for a PvP battle?

I actually came here looking for that exact thing. My son also just got a rare candy as a reward.

Well, I’m glad to hear it wasn’t a super rare occurrence. Some of the research tasks for 1 RC take a lot of legwork (carwork), it nice to finally get one in the living room.

Last night I did three battles in a row with a trainer I battle only occasionally. I received two rare candies and a Sinnoh stone from the three battles. Then, I battled between my account and my daughter's account, which I battle every day, and her account received 500 stardust all three times. This led me to speculate that if you battle the same trainer every day to get your rewards, perhaps you are less likely to get the good rewards. This could be an effort to get us to actually battle a diverse group of trainers, instead of just battling our alt accounts to collect rewards. But maybe it is just random.

I also battle everyday with my son's account & his account receives far more stones than mine. On one day I did receive 3 stones tho so not quite sure what to make of the results, although I suspect a little more than rng is at work here. Will be interesting to see the split on RC's now that's a thing. Am continuing to work on my PvP teams in the hope of a proper matchmaking system, which would be great, the present system is a real turn off for alot of trainers & I suspect they wouldn't bother with it at all if there was another way to get the rewards.

Rare Candy were added recently, within the last couple of days. I think it's good that they're diversifying the PvP rewards with them considering 2nd move costs. I'd like to see CTM's make their way into PvP rewards as well, but adding too many items could dilute the reward pool too much given we only get 4 rewards a day (3 vs other players, 1 vs AI).
