PSA: If you are short on potions, leave your mons fainted for the next couple of days.
When Gen 4 drops, if it follows the same trend as Gen 2 and 3 last year, all your mons will be auto revived and full HP.

OP is absolutely correct. The slightest alteration in cp formula and Niantic mass revives everyone's entire Pokemon collection. They even did it when they mistakenly upped Ho-Oh's max CP to over 4000. It was only inflated like that for under 2 hours. I caught an inflated boosted one but I knew Ho-Oh still not worth resources (plus I had no resources).
