Prep for Rayquazza

Based on what I've read, I think these would be my top 6 for Rayquazza.

Articuno 2518 31.0 91% 13/15/13 FB/BL
Lapras 2345 34.5 80% 14/12/10 IS/BL
Dragonite 3204 34.5 73% 15/9/9 DT/O
Dragonite 3173 33.0 87% 14/12/13 DT/O
Piloswine 2012 34.0 69% 15/10/6 IS/A
Walrein 2366 35.0 82% 14/10/13 FB/BL

I know in general DT/O Gyarados and DB/O Kingdra don't seem to great options for this raid boss, but I have one of each that are maxed level 40 100%. Would either of these be enough to drop out one of the other 6? Or are they relegated to second team status? As far as candies/dust/tm's I have enough and would be willing to use them on the first 4 if that would hit break points. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Bulk calculator says kingdra won't survive after 1 outrage. Gyarados has bulk but will not be higher than any ice or Dragonite.

Ice types generally good against all moveset.
Dragonite is probably best against Air Slash/Aerial Ace.

I will be using a combination of Lapras & piloswine, and dragonite strictly for Air slash/Aerial ace.

Okay makes sense. So Kingdra is a definite no. Gyarados might slot in at the back of a team two then. Thanks!

Your team is good, but I'm seeing a bit of reliance on 1 bar move options like Walrein, Lapras and Articuno. Blizzard is a good move but 2 bars (in particular, Avalanche, and NOT Ice Beam) is just so much better. Sadly, it is true that Lapras, Articuno or Walrein doesn't learn it.

If the 3 ice mons with Blizzard are the highest Level ice pokemon available, then use them. If you have some cloyster/jynx/piloswine with avalanche that are just a couple of levels below, use them instead.

It may be prudent to prepare a team 2 for Rayquaza anyway so it's in your interest to go in with your hardest hitting options with Avalanche first and have a battle group ready so you can rejoin with just a swipe.

My teams will be:
Team 1 (Pure DPS and low survivability)
Jynx Level 31, 30, 29 Frost Breath Avalanche
Dragonite Level 40, 40, 40 Dragon Tail/Outrage, Outrage, Dragon Claw

Team 2: (A more sustainable team)
Articuno Level 39 Frost Breath Blizzard
Cloyster Level 32, 30, 30, 29, 29 with Avalanche

I do have enough for a second team, but they are all considerably lower level than the ones I posted before. They are all between level 27 and 30 (a couple each of cloyster and piloswine, and then one jynx). I wouldn't really want to dump any stardust into those even though I have the candies to spare. The only other two bar ice move mon I could even consider justifying the dust for might be a FB/IB lapras but it'd take a good amount of dust for something that likely wouldn't see much use after this (it's currently level 20).

Yeah of course don't dump stardust on them. I wouldn't even use a TM on them if they evolved with the wrong moves (unless its fast TM).

In that case then, use the high level walrein/lapras with blizzard, and put the avalanche lower level squad in team 2

Yeah I'll plan for that, unless I happen to catch a weather boosted one to evolve before then. Thanks for the input.

Don’t be surprised to see Mew instead of Rayquaza. I’m thinking they’ll go pink for V-Day.
