Power up Golem?

I have a 84 IV Golem, level 20, with Rock Throw/Earthquake. I want to fight dragonites with it because Ice types aren't really very common where I live. Should I power it up, or wait for the event to get over, evolve some other Golems, and wait for RT/Stone Edge?

I would wait for RT/SE or even RB because EQ is not very effective vs Dragonite where SE is super effective. If you are lacking in attackers for dragonite try a generalist such as Snorlax also if you have a strong Dragon move gyarados or dragonite that works well and finally you may have a good wiggly tuff or clefable with fairy moves also P/DG blissey and PC/DG alakazam can do work. And another semi common SE user is Nidoqueen so one with B/SE or PJ/SE should work aswell.

I would even go do something like ice beam Slowbro over an eq Golem.

Yeah those would make good work but C/IB or B/IB would be better than any WG variants of those two

I'd wait for the event to end and evolve/power up another one. I use my all-Rock Golem often, and I wouldn't if he had Earthquake.

If you're going to invest into something that's suboptimal, at least make sure it's got the best moveset or at least viable in comparison to the optimal Pokemon.

i.e. Stone edge or rock blast are already inferior to ice Pokemon. earthquake is going to be even worse that it's not worth investing in to bring it up to 30.

should be good against zapados when it comes out though.

you'll note he didn't even bother with a stone mon (other then t-rex)

if you have one a pound/hyperbeam blissey is slow but effective just for it's mass.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have a Clefable with Pound/Dazzling Gleam, as well as a Wiggly with Pound/Play Rough.

Based on the replies, I am going to wait for the event to finish. I have 3 Geodudes right now, all hatched, 2 84%, and 1 93%. Have ~300 candies, and going to collect more to evolve all 3 and hopefully get one with double rock moves.

may I suggest you wait until the end of the event before evolving anything.
you might get lucky and catch a level 30 for no dust cost.
For second line mons I would rather evolve a 65% level 30 which is instantly usable then a 90% level 20.
