Pokemisconceptions

What's something you thought was true in the Pokemon universe, either the old games or in Go (or both), that you later found out was wrong?
For the longest time i thought Flying was super effective against Ground until i looked at the Type Chart on Gamepress and was shocked that I was wrong about that. Admittedly i haven't played a full game since Diamond but still I thought that was a basic thing and was surprised I was wrong about.

I thought Blissey was fairy type for the longest time.

Back in the day I had played Ruby, but not Sapphire, and thought Team Aqua were the good guys. Obviously, they were not (found that out rather quickly by playing Emerald).

I always thought Ghost were weak to Psychic. That was because the Gengar vs Alakazam fight. Now I realize that Gengar is weak due the fact it's also poison. (I really don't understand why poison is weak to psy mons). Psychic mons shouldn't be weak to ghost and bug, in my opinion.

I think it's quite interesting that Psychic types are weak to "fears" (fear of the dark/insects/ghosts)

I thought Psychic Type was Super Effective against plant. This was because the plant types that were in gyms were made up of Venasaur, Vileplume and Victreebel which were also Poison type..

When I first started I thought that everything that did super effective damage was also resistant to that same type because of the starter trinity

Grass vs Water
Water vs Fire
Fire vs Grass

Back in the days of Ruby and Sapphire, I guided myself by several common sense misconceptions that I still believe SHOULD be true. I was on the same boat on the flying vs ground super effectiveness, as well as believing that Steel was weak to electric (I mean, its obvious right?) but not only it isn't, but it actually is weak to fighting?!
Gyarados and Charizard look like dragons so they MUST be dragons right? No, instead they're both half flying, which raises a lot of questions about Gyarados.
I also thought celebi was another psychic mythical.

I think it makes sense that Steel isn't weak to Electric. You know, Faraday's cage and stuff.

I thought ice wasn’t weak to fire because you could get super effective against charizard on the original games but I remember when I played Stadium it didn’t work (come to find out they changed it in later gens). I also thought it was interesting in my discord group that people actually thought ice was the only thing super effective against rayquaza and didn’t know dragon is weak to itself

I thought the Ice-type was the strongest. You do not really get to see any ice types until later in the game and I thought that it was the strongest also because it could freeze. It turned out to be one of the weakest, if not the weakest.

I thought ice was SE effective against water since it could freeze water. Turns out it's NVE.

Not related to Go, but I used to think that Rayqauza was super fast, until one day I decided to look at its stats on Serebii and saw that its speed was only 95. I was a bit let down.
