They don't necessarily need to be removed, but their proportion seems ridiculously high right now. I've gotten nothing but potions (~80%) and revives (~20%) from my last four legendary bird raids, and probably 2/3 of the total was super potions, which I continually throw away to make room for pokeballs.
I could live with the number of potions from raids being halved, and changed to max potions and hyper potions (even though I already have over 500 max potions, which I accumulate much faster than I use).
Well, again, I don't think reducing rare candies and golden razzes is horrible, but they took it too far.
Before, I was liberally feeding golden razzberries remotely to my gym mons, and converting rare candies as soon as I received them into legendary bird candies or Dragonite/Tyranitar candies, in order to free up bag space. That probably means they were giving out too many of them.
Now, I've gotten none of either from my last four Tier 5 raids (nor any TM's). That indicates they are not giving out enough of them.
Hopefully, this will be like the change in the gym prestige formula last November, where they overcorrected, and then backtracked it to a reasonable compromise.
I'm not sure how well a forum thread could function as a petition, but still, I definitely want them removed from raids.
I did a Moltres raid a couple hours ago, got 15 revives, 13 potions, and nothing else. I was already throwing away potions even before they became a "reward" for winning raids, so I sure don't need more. And ever since potions became all we get from raids, so many people around here have stopped even bothering with them that it has become almost impossible to get enough people together to win. At this rate, I don't know if I'm going to keep making the effort either.
The silly thing is that before they included potions, a lot of people were complaining about the lack of potions.
Basically, the problem is that there are now both potions and revives in the pool. The last 5 legendary raids I've done, I've gotten a grand total of 3 rare candy (0,0,0,3,0). They certainly need to give potions and revives a smaller weight.
I think they also ramped up the potions from pokestops. Even only fighting one T3 or less raid a day, my bag is overflowing with potions and my balls are dwindling rapidly. At the point where I'm going around town fighting every gym to build up my badges rather than just dump all my potions to make room to spin pokestops.
I've heard that, but I find it hard to believe that people were complaining about lack of potions. Before the gym rework, sure, potions were scarce. But since then, despite collecting my max gym coins pretty much every day, and doing 1-2 raids/day, I've accumulated potions at a very rapid rate. Even before they were added as raid rewards, I was throwing out all of my regular potions and super potions as I acquired them, because I have 500+ max potions and 100+ hyper potions (not to mention 180+ max revives), and I keep accumulating them faster than I use them.
At the moment, great balls and ultra balls would be more useful to me as a raid reward than potions.
Many people were buying lots of raid passes to try to earn as many legends and unique items as they could, but weren't bothering to save a stock of healing items or spin stops between raids, an assumption on my part is that many of these people never bothered to increase their item box capacity very much. They wouldn't have to complain a lot, Niantic just had to recognize the people currently spending the most money were playing this way. Though banking on people being stupid/optimistic enough to continue playing at the same rate when the useful rewards get nerfed to such a degree was not the brightest move on their part, IMO.
it was the 20 revives with no potions that were complaint worth each healing bundle should of just been a couple of revives and a couple of potions in the same bundle.
Not reconfigured so all we get are revives and potions.
reducing the number of rare candies might have been fair enough but no gold berries as well is crap.
The real problem with rural, as a friend of mine put it, is insufficient gyms and pokestops. Which would you prefer? More gyms and pokestops that can give you potions with little effort, or to fight for anywhere between a few seconds (Magikarp) to 3 full minutes (soloing a level 3) in rural area just to get a few potions / revives and exp and nothing more most of the time?
People have been asking Niantic for a year now to add more pokestops/gyms for rural areas and it still seems to have not happened or there are barely any added. Another alternative would be for them to just simply attach items to caught pokemon. I mean, why not? It happens in the original games...

Giving potions as rewards from a raid, a good idea.
Having these potions literally replace the higher valued rewards, that are many peoples motivation and reason to go and beat more raids ? Bad idea.
We should not be compensating on the rewards people actually for some potions...that are simply a convenience...sure its nice to get some, but all we have to do is go spin some stops. Rare candy and golden razz are not obtainable any other way. It definetly shouldn't be directly reducing our rare candy rewards etc and just in addition.
