One more Suicune or wait to get 5 Shedinja?
My research breakthrough stamps complete on October 30 th. My strongest Suicune is 89% IV 14 atk but anyway it doesn't have any use right now and neither will have with the stat rebalance as most defensive oriented legendaries. So should i try to get one more Suicune this month? Will it have any utility in the foreseable future? Or should i get 5 Shedinja next month just for the sake of novelty and future trading benefits to newer players? (Since it doesn't seem it will be a good pokemon anyway without abilities but i'm unsure when it will be made avaible again)

Neither is especially useful. Getting another Suicune would get you more candy for it, and who knows, it might come again one day with better moves. Alternatively, Shedinja might be better for possible trading, since it's both cheaper to trade, and might be worth a lot to anyone who misses this month of breakthroughs.
I set everything up so I could take my breakthrough next week just after the changeover (will have to wait until 4 PM EST), because I figured whatever came after Suicune was going to be better. I was wrong. I'm going to take the Suicune, and then spend November setting myself up to claim December's breakthrough on the 1st. I'll get 3-4 Shedinjas, which seems sufficient, and then 5 of hopefully Groudon, followed by Kyogre and Rayquaza (speculative, but it's a better bet than anything else I can think of).
I think the opposite. Niantic does treat these groups as sets, but it won't pick only one set to appear in Research, they both will. The Weather Trio will appear first as it has been longer since they first appeared.
The primary purpose of research rewards is to give players access to pokemon that they might not be able to get normally. e.g. cannot raid.
Thanks for the suggestions! I think i will set me up to get 5 of whatever comes in December! Suicune will probably have his raid day with its shiny introduced and probably some special move, so getting the extra suicuine would just mean extra candy. Shedinja is more of a mystery as to when it will be avaible again, and is cheaper to trade but 5 might be an overkill
