GamePress

When the game opened up, Vaporeon was king in gyms, and Water dominated the scene. Then other mon moved in, and things got more balanced.

I think that we're now in the era of Solar Beam. Not Grass, but Solar Beam. Ho-Oh's solar beam was a raid wrecking attack that required more trainers to fight than the other two. Now Groudon not only has Solar Beam, but it's his most damaging charged attack, even without STAB.

And on the other side of the ledger, both Groudon and Kyogre are weak to grass, so hitting them with Solar Beam is quite effective.

I don't know whether this is just the confluence of Ho-Oh and Groudon, or the way things will be for a while, but it seems that Solar Beam is really at the front of most of the thoughts I have on PoGO these days.

There is no new or old era, because Go is not a competitive game. So the meta is irrelevant.

My posts are always accurate. ;)

People here talking about metas are wasting their time, no one is battling each other or having any trouble taking down the ridiculously easy gyms.

It's irrelevant, What's the point of talking about it?

Haha, I wasn't trolling. Usually his reactions are provocative and I ignore, but I can relate to this one.

Looks like HarryTipper2 loses the vote 12-0. (Edit, it's up to 19-0). Further, you lose an argument with a troll by engaging, and you win an argument with a troll by not engaging.

Please don't feed the troll.

You can pretty much take down any gym with whatever you want, agreed. It is a rare circumstance that meta actually matters, but still.

When interested in a game, I like to know what I'm doing and still try to play it as optimal as possible. Wish the game was more competitive.

Unfortunately there's many noobs who want everything easy, so Niantic corp. have given them what they want.

Can't blame them, they want profit and that's what they get. It's just me as a competitive player playing the wrong game and seeking for challenges that are not there.

To be fair, since I reached level 40 I barely play the game. I like to browse this website and read about it than I actually play.

That's pretty much why i gave up. However i am classified as a troll for that, so there you go.

GO provides nothing for competitive people like you or me, who like to be challenged. I never reached level 40 and have no interest in doing so, congrats on that :)

You can be provocative from time to time and you're aware of that. Surprisingly, the people on this website never seem to get triggered compared to other communities tho :D

Thanks! Do you play any other games these days?

I enjoy being provocative, it's fun seeing how butthurt easily offended little people get and laughing at them :D

I haven't played other games for a while. I got a PS4 which i may set up when i get other stuff in my new home sorted. Only moved two days ago!

I think gamepress is an awesome website providing valuable information to Pokemon Go. It's a shame if it's deteriorated by such content mate.

I sold my Ps4 a few days ago. I figured I never play any games any more these days and it was better to get some money for it.

Whether it's competitive or not has no bearing on the fact this game has had several iterations which players can refer to as eras.
So your cynicism isn't valid.
Just stop playing for good as you have claimed to do in the past and stop posting.

In my opinion, Solar beam is the most all round strongest attack in the game. The fact that non-grass Pokemon have solarbeam as strongest move says it all.

Solar beam can significantly contribute to raid damage compared to other attacks. But in the end it all depends on the number of participants.

Considering how useless solarbeam is in the main game meta and conversely how good EQ is, I have to shake my head at what a crappy job Niantic did of adapting the moves to pogo.

While I’m often hard on them this isn’t a fair criticism. This isn’t “Pokemon mobile” this is their version of the game simplified. Some things won’t be similar and yes it will upset the 3% like me and you but it is how they do it and we are wasting our time bothering with it

I like how they've adapted some small elements of moves to this very simplistic version of Pokemon dueling.

For example, moves like Splash/Yawn building energy but next to no damage, and Solarbeam being powerful but having a very late damage window and long cooldown, and electric quick moves (for the most part) having the highest energy gain.

If you mean that it's the strongest charge move in the game disregarding types, you would be wrong. The best move is Shadow Ball. Below Shadow Ball but above Solar Beam are moves such as Dynamic Punch, Wild Charge, Avalanche, Grass Knot and Power Whip, which are basically Solar Beam divided into two parts.

By pure power, yes, Solar Beam has the highest at 180.

I think we are in the era of dynamic punch. Between raidable Machamp and farmable Hariyama, along with the more liberal distribution of TM's, it is fairly easy to obtain a small army of these fighting types, which roll over dark and normal types, while also handling ice and rock types effectively. Sure, they have some weaknesses, but for overall attacking usefulness, DP Champs and Haris are hard to beat. Other than for soloing Omastar, I could get along without solar beam, but I would be much more severely handicapped without dynamic punch.
