The new charge bar mechanic improves our quality of life, especially in short man raiding

Have been failing several times on 3-man Ho-Oh, today after two of us updated the app to the newest version, we decided to give the new charge bar mechanics a try to see how it works. To our surprise, it works much better than the holding to release charge move, because the latency and rubberbanding in the old system are being minimized.

In the old system, after you hold the screen, it will take time to react to your action and start the charge move. For a good phone and internet, it would take within a second for the reaction, yet for lower-end phones and worse internet, it was a hit or miss, first, it would take longer time to react to your holding, or it failed to detect your holding action, and not releasing the charge move at all, which ended up making you confused and waste some quick moves (dps). Now, things are more straight-forward, just tap on the big button, your charge move is sure to be blasted in an instant, you don't need to watch the bar again to check if it is released.

Plus, as most of you may remember, in the old version, there was a glitch that after you released a charge move, the charge bar would be full again for an instant, now this problem is gone, which makes us more certain if we released the charge move already, without wasting some quick moves to hold the screen again.

For those of you who are interested, here's a video of us trioing Ho-Oh today, two of us are using the new system: https://youtu.be/fO699qra7ZY

I can't wait to test it, too bad no raids happened while I was on my way somewhere today. Funny thing is, now there are 4 raids in my area, taunting me, lol!

I like this change! Dodging is also easier because "super effective" no longer blocks charge move announcements.

Interesting. Seems like it might make the difference for a lot of near-miss t3 solos.

Experienced it when taking over a gym, once I figured it out, more intuitive, and pretty straightforward. Just have to move my finger from the defender to the bottom to fire off the charged attack. Definitely don't miss the uncertainty of using charged attacks, and figuring out whether it went off as I watch the energy bar go from full to zero to full again, hoping it drops to zero again, all the while taking hits from the defender or raid boss.

I just tried it, both for battling a gym, and for two raids. It'll take a little getting used to, but a good change.

There were a couple of times when I thought I hit the button, but the move didn't launch. You can tell pretty quickly, but it is not quite fool proof. Maybe with practice, that won't happen. Also, my smaller phone (iPhone SE) might not be as well-suited as larger ones for this feature.

Works nicely, not I have an issue with it. Now that that there are energy bars filling up on the bottom of the screen, there are also health bars to keep track of on top. This makes it difficult trying to keep track of the stuff that's happening. Not to mention your thumb is usually covering that area while tapping.
I'd prefer they move the CM bars to the top under the users health, and keep the activate button where it is.
