This must be one of the worst events i had ever seen in the duration of a year. And i mean it.
If this event achieved anything, it's to exodus players into let's GO. For this torturous 2 weeks, i only see worthless pokemon both in the wild and raids and there's seriously nothing to do after i got the meltan within 2 days, but if you do not buy 10 passes or stack an aero, this task is virtually impossible because Aeros do not and never spawn by the time you get to do 10 raids. Depending on your area, if you do not buy 10 passes, getting a Cubone might be impossible.
Then after Giratina was gone, out of the range of my predictability, they somehow managed to put out one of the worst pokemon in the game save for the likes of Hypno and Beedrill into the legendary raids. Thank god after 2-3 days this event is over and i seriously hope the tier 1s to 4s change afterwards into better pokemon.
What's even worse is Melmetal is a shame of a pokemon that is also virtually impossible to obtain lest be power up, with that moveset it just offsets its stats and reduces it to the level of charge beam zap cannon porygon-z. It is completely unviable and probably even worse than Cresselia or Giratina because it is impossible to invest in.
The only good thing is that you can grind tier 3s for a good chance for rare candies and charged tms at the new Raichu and Eevee raid bosses. All of them are soloable, and you do get a good deal of rare candies and TMs from them.
There is seriously no point starting events like this save for putting players to exodus into let's go. It's just a tragedy, and it shows.

The 10 raids part -is- on the annoying side, but no, it's far from impossible. I bought a single raid pass, and used the 3 I already had, and I've completed it with 2 days to spare. The aerodactyl quest is also pretty common, and certainly it shouldn't be hard to find one and save it while you're doing all those raids. Then just trigger it when you get to that point.

Yes, Cresselia isn't really useful, but how the hell did you think you were going to get it? It was going to be in raids sometime, getting it done now just means better stuff down the road.

You're one of the most vocal angry players, and yet apparently you're still playing, so what on earth makes you think anyone else has quit over this?
Ever heard of saving encounters? That solves the Aerodactyl problem. Everything else required by the questline is either a nesting species or a Ditto, which are accessible everywhere.
I think this event is pretty good. The common event quests are good and easy to do, the spawns and the quests support the questline, and you only have to invest a few paid passes to complete the questline during the event. Melmetal requiring 400 candy for evolution sucks, but that's not related to this event, it's more of a long-term incentive for people to get access to Mystery Boxes.
Not every event is going to be a home run..... The next CD is pretty much a Oh-Hum in my community, of course Dratini, Lavitar, Beldum candy are always welcome and bonus dust is always an awesome thing... Everyone already has maxed out full squads of the really important CD Pokémon by trading... But we realize not every event is going to be geared towards us.... Personally I am a little annoyed with Niantic constantly going backwards when it comes to picking Pokémon to feature for its events.... Then again I’m well aware of the huge influx of new and returning players this summer... So I just have to be a big boy and deal with it
Hop on a plane come to New York City , and I’ll be more than happy to take you to my local park ... it’s about a twenty minute car ride from my house, it’s got an insane amount of stops and gyms it’s pretty much asshole free .... sooo you really won’t fit in, but should still come on down you might actually learn something about how the game is played at high level
I do not look up the tasks still to come in the quests; I like to be surprised. I take from your rant that there is a "catch an Aerodactyl" lurking behind the 10-raid-wall. Which indeed will be next to impossible once Aerodactyl has vanished from the research task list. I am not worried, though. Rhe quest will take longer - which is not bad in my book - but within reasonable limits. Niantic has a track record of helping late- and newcomers along by making previously rare Pokemon common. Expect Aerodactyl to spawn more often in the future, re-appear as a raid boss, or hatch from eggs.
Even worse than you are saying, which is tough to do....you can only use one Cresselia in a battle party at a time. I took some gyms, then a spoofer took them back...spoofer got in a raid lobby with me...I tried to pick all Cresselia...nope, only one per battle party and/or raid. Why are we doing this for 4 weeks?***I had switched to an account his color and put some 10 cp drowzee in, and it seemed like I picked multiple Cresselia. Battle started and just one, I went back to fainting lobby and tried to get more Cresselia but seemed like that was nixed. Maybe mistaken, but it really seemed that way.

- Your personal boredom is not Niantic's problem. You chose to plow through the special research at high speed...which is funny. You sure invested a lot of time all at once into a game you continually claim to hate.

- This is not true. The special research went live on the 16th, and this event ends on the 27th. Many people I know knocked out most of the 10 raid requirement using free daily passes. Yes, many of them had to use some premium passes, but since you get 3 passes as one of the rewards in either that stage or the next, very few people I know of found themselves down any premium passes from that stage of the quest. Aside from the ones who wanted to knock out those raids in a day or two. Also, the information on what each stage required was known information within 24hrs of the Meltan special research going live. Almost everyone I know stacked an Aero for stage 8. It's not that hard...

- You act like this is somehow a big surprise. Cresselia's stats have been available to us for quite some time now. We've known it was going to suck. But we also knew that, like every other legendary, it would get it's month in the spotlight. Not all legendaries will be must-haves. This is one of them. If you don't like it, then use this as a time to take a break.
Protip: the lake trio will be coming out at some point during this Gen as well. Probably a month for each. Uxie and Mespirit are going to be terrible, and Azelf will only be good if you don't have Mewtwo. There. I just saved you from the element of "surprise."

- What, exactly, were you expecting Niantic to do about this? In the main series, it only learns like 2 steel moves. One of them is Flash Cannon, and the other is that Double Iron Bash (or whatever it is). They weren't going to give it it's exclusive move right now, so they had limited options to work with. Niantic can't just make up moves to give Pokemon, so I don't know what you wanted here.

- Wrong and wrong. Something taking time to obtain =/= it being virtually impossible to obtain. It's also far from impossible to invest it. Let's forget rare candies entirely. Your options for investing in a Melmetal include:
• pinap'ing all 10 from the mystery box each week. That's 60 candies a week. If you don't own the Let's Go games, you can always find someone who does. Your local PoGo group probably has at least a few who play it.b
• trading a Meltan for distance/another Meltan daily.
• put Meltan into gyms and feed it berries.
• walk Meltan as your buddy. 1 candy per 20km.

- Not every event is going to be a slam-dunk. This event is one of the ones on the mediocre side of the spectrum. However, it's far from a tragedy. As far as sending players into exodus, I've found that to entirely not be the case in my community. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else feels the same way.
