"Messages sent to other users"

So in Niantic's new privacy policy it says:
"During game play we will collect certain information, such as your (or your authorized child's) user name and messages sent to other users." Does this mean they're adding a chat soon?

I haven't checked, but I assumed they might be using the same privacy policy for Ingress and Pokemon Go. Ingress has some sort of in-game local chat.

Yeah, I know about Ingress' chat but I hope they'll add one to PGO too. It's difficult to gather at raids here when most people don't frequent the area, and the others just don't even know each other but roam the area.
