So a month or so back now I finally got a mewtwo, but I have similarly gotten Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, Groudon and Kyogre I know for certain get a little more power per power up than mewtwo does, and I have seen a lot on here about the two of them potentially needing another nerf. At this point in time are they a better investment than mewtwo? Or Rayquaza for that matter? Though I have heard Rayquaza is not much of an upgrade on Dragonite anyway.
Groudon will probably be the best ground type ever
Kyogre has some future competition but last I read Kyogre will have better Bulk than future water types.
Rayquaza has a lot of future competition
Mewtwo has limited use since his best move(shadow ball) is double resisted by most common gym defenders like Blissey, Snorlax, Chansey, & Slaking.
Groudon and Kyogre both stand to be the best of their type over all generations. Both have some potential competition in the next gen, but they are unlikely to get outclassed by much, if at all. Powering one up is a lasting investment.
Same story with Mewtwo. There's some competition but it will be one of the best psychic types ever.
Rayquaza is a riskier investment, it's indeed just a bit better than Dragonite and there's a boatload of legendary dragons in the coming generations that may become better (gamepress has an article on this that's worth a read). However Rayquaza could very well end up being the best flying type we're ever getting.
Depending on your current needs the powerup priority should be Kyogre=Groudon=Mewtwo>Rayquaza.
IMHO
Groudon>Kyogre>Rayquaza>Mewtwo, but swap rayquaza and Mewtwo if you have a 96%+ Mewtwo.
This is for future proofing purposes. Groudon AFAIK has no competition except Garchomp (depending what moves it gets, it can get really close with the 3X resistance to ground)
Kyogre has competition in Palkia, and is a higher risk
Rayquaza has a lot of competition but the mega form has highest base stats in the games, don't know how that plays out in Pogo.
Most people have middling Mewtwos unless you're really lucky with a 90+. Then and only then should you max out. Mega form is tied with Rayquaza with highest base stats.
