This is a joke

https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/913zu0/discussion_rant_theres_currently_some_sort_of/

We have the legit concern of everything can be obsolete suddenly for no reason including top tier legendaries and i'm basically on the brink of being done. When precpice blades and origin pulse community day comes in that's it i'm out of here.

And kids began to complain and boycott because THEY CANNOT SPOOF!

They are giving one star ratings to Niantic and boycotting because they cannot spoof while everyone else is going to boycott because of the fact that they can make any pokemon obsolete in 3 hours. It's a display of overinflated ego that is not going to change anything, because spoofing on its own is not legit and ferments narcissism instead of glory.

It's like people are dying because of war and porverty in africa and somebody asks a policemen why they cannot rob a bank for all of its gold.

The exclusive move issue is a death threat on its own but not being able to spoof is not a legit reason to whine or boycott.

I'm not a fan of the possibility of top tier Mons outclassing themselves at a moment's notice (if signature moves become TM-locked like TS was for Zapdos on Zapdos Day) either. That said, your metaphors are a bit much...

Based on your former posts, I was under the impression that you had already quit a couple months back since you were in a similar state of being overly disgusted with the game. Based on this post, I'd say not much has changed. Might not be a bad idea to put the game down, since it seems that you're still not enjoying it.

I've played drastically less since Registeel was released but the point is when there were legit concerns people are whining they cannot spoof. Spoofing is not a right, it's a display of overinflated ego that you don't deserve.

People whining about illegitimate things when there are legit concerns is something that pretty much exists in every game ever, and in many facets of life. You have the ability to ignore them. Plus, I guarantee you that Niantic isn't about to change their stance and allow spoofing, so those complaints are falling on deaf ears anyways.

Entitled manchildren will be entitled manchildren I guess. All we can do is point an laugh until they see themselves as the dumbasses they are.

YEah, I mean whats the point in playing the game if you arent going to do anything because you wont power something up because you're afraid what you have wont be the best. Thats kinda that whole point of the seires,

tl;dr: Spoofies BTFO about trivial spoofie bullshit while more pressing concerns arise. OP uses a half-assed analogy involving Africa and gold boi theft.

Stupid analogy, plus why are you obsessing about moves becoming obsolete? If it's a decent move now, it'll still be s decent move even if a slightly better one is available. The battle system in pogo is basic at best & you still won't be able to solo a tier 4 with the new improved moveset. You'll still need others to do Legendaries so it's really no biggie. Agree with you on spoofers but that's about it.

To be honest, I don't know why Niantic cares about spoofers anymore. Between the change in the gym system and raids, I actually like the spoofers. I want my pokemon to get kicked out of a gym rather than sit there for 5 days, plus they added distance feeding. I think the raid system made scanners and spoofing to pokemon pretty irrelevant, because the best pokemon are obtainable in raids or on community day. In addition to that, I welcome spoofers to T4 and T5 because I can't solo them. From a money stand point, Niantic would make way more money if it let people spoof to raids, and others would actually spend more on passes doing raids they couldn't normally do. From a competitive stand point it doesn't really matter. Niantic has made it very clear that it wants everyone on the same level. Spoofers or not, nearly every player is capable of doing the same thing.

To be honest, I would enjoy being able to do something on the game while on my couch. I would love to battle a gym or do a raid, as opposed catching 2 pokemon and turning the game off. I was stuck at home with 4 kids during their exclusive 3 hour window. Would have been nice to spoof a raid. Finally, it would allow my kids to partake in the gym scene, as their need out home internet connection to play on their phones.

I don't mind spoofers on paper per say, it's when they act smug and elitist about what they do that's irritating. Go ahead, show off your army of Kangaskhan you caught on your couch as if they mean anything. Spoofers spend boatloads of money on the game? So do legitimate players, especially now that raid passes are a thing. "But what about disabled players?," a concern expressed largely by able-bodied people who don't want to admit they don't feel like going out and playing. For every time I hear this one, someone who actually IS disabled chimes in about how they're still able to get out and play. For every excuse, there's a counter-argument.

Again, by and large I don't mind spoofers, and actually welcome them in short-man raids to help guarantee wins. It's those that act the way described above that paint the image of the spoofing community. None of them admit it's because they're too lazy to play the game they way it's intended and act like they're somehow owed something in return.

The thing I don’t understand is why people would choose this game to play from home. There are FAR more engaging games to play from one’s couch. The entire point of this game is to explore your environment and, if you’re into that sort of thing, meet some totally awesome likeminded people and make some friends.

Everyone has a different situation. I'm not ONLY looking to play from home, but sometimes going out is a real burden. I have only been able to fully participate in 1 community day. For most of them I have had my drill weekend, and pokemon don't spawn on base. For the Tyranitar community day, I had 4 kids to watch, one of them being under the age of 2. I was extremely lucky to get to spend an hour and a half at the park. Also, my kids (6 and 7) just hit full blown obsession with pokemon. They blow through pokeballs very quickly. They blow through 100 pokeballs each and then ask for a gift hoping they will get a couple more. I have to go out every night for an hour just to stock them up on pokeballs, forget my account. I'm at 1229 items of 1850...it has been so long since I have spun pokestops for me...

I certainly agree with their attitude problem. I would also agree some spoofers can be real malicious, more so in the old gym system. I think any system can be abused but one thing this game seriously lacks is something to do while sitting on the couch. And like I said, my kids phones only work at home. I can only speak for myself, but even if I could spoof, I would still go out and walk around. I use this game as my exercise, it's not like I would stop exercising because I can now battle a gym from home.

Not to sound like a dick, but this game isn't exactly made to be played on the couch. That's the whole premise to it; go outside, explore where you live, catch Pokemon. There's a whole series of handhelds dedicated to be played on a couch that are much more involved than Go is, and Let's Go brings the Go mechanics home (arguably not for the better of the series IMO, but that's a rant for another day.)

Can you not run a mobile hotspot for the kids? I've had to do that before, whether it's when running my fiancee's account on an old phone or for someone at a raid whose data is on the fritz.

That mobile hotspot is a good idea. I'm not very familiar with them, but shouldn't be too hard.

And I have the other games and I play them during the winter. Where do you live? Here in Minnesota the game is virtually unplayable for around 6 months out of the year, unless you go to a mall or drive around in your car, which I assume you don't like either, right?

What I like about Go, compared to the other games is that it isn't instantly "beatable." You can beat Sun and Moon in a matter of days. For me, Go has been a long term thing with pokemon I have used for years. I like seeing where I caught them and the memories. In addition to that, it's on my phone. I always have it with me and can pop it open at any point. It would be really sad if I carried my Nintendo DS around everywhere...

I had one running on my phone most of the time I was in Europe for vacation because my fiancee's carrier doesn't have international data. It's simple to do, just keep an eye on your battery unless you have an external.

I'm in the Midwest too, I know how much the winters suck. It's no picnic but at least it's honest. Guess I'm lucky in that I have stops/gyms within walking distance, even during the winter I can keep my dailies going.

I do want to say thanks for the idea. I actually just tried it. Unfortunately, it didn't work. It was the same issue I had at the Mall of America. It connects, but the internet doesn't work. I tried with 3 different phones but all had the same issue. The only thing I can come up with is that the phones don't have a data plan, but that doesn't explain why the phones work at home.

All that being said, I disagree with the view, that many here have, that there is a "correct" way to play the game or that people that aren't out there grinding are lazy. You can say what the creators "intended," but they do stuff that contradicts that and straight up doesn't work for a lot of people. Players in cold and rural areas get the massive shaft...you are in a small town? Enjoy spinning your one pokestop. You need to go out and explore! Oh, but feed your pokemon at the gym berries from your couch!

I have never spoofed. This game has always been fitness first for me. I have walked nearly 3000km from ACTUAL walking or running. For as much as I hate seeing spoofers bragging about their spoofed armies, maybe we need to look at our attitude and not be so smug about playing the game the "right way." This smug attitude will be shown by people downvoting this post simply because I have a different view than them, which makes theirs better.

Yeah, but when your alternate methods of play violate the T.O.S. that you agree to when starting then yes, there is in a sense an objectively right and wrong way to play the game. I'm not saying there aren't aspects that seem contradictory to the intended scope of the game. I'm saying when they explicitly forbid a method of playing then there are bounds on a right and wrong way of playing.

You guys do realize how much money Niantic makes from sponsors, right? And that spoofers cost them A LOT more than they make them, many times over. And the fact that if Niantic allows one spoofer, they have to allow all, in which case everyone would spoof. Because it’s allowed. In which case why even make it location based? They would just make it a different game. Spoofers will never be allowed because of many reasons, and I hope that Niantics new banning policy helps ban more and more spoofers and keep them out from ruining the game. I know that there are many days I have missed and will miss because of work. Community Days, Mewtwo Raids. But this is a part of the game. If you don’t like it, there are tons of other games to play. I am sure there will be changes to raids to help rural players out, however group battles should be encouraged. And with the Articuno and community days, it is extremely hard not to find a couple people to raid with. I think that all legendarys have the potential to be taken down with 4 players when using the right counters. So finding 3 others to take down a legendary once in awhile, or driving to a busier city once in awhile shouldn’t be too hard. Plus they are giving us three months of Regis, the worst legendarys. So you can use this time to do tier 4 raids with one other person, build up your army for when the next real raid boss comes. I would rather do almost any other raid boss than Registeel, and I’ve done almost 200 Rayquaza raids (still don’t have one better than 95%)!

I don’t see any reason why people spoof other than to ruin it for others. I know people who are like that. Most of them are criminals.

To add to this, it's a free game. The only monetary sink to keep playing is the amount you willingly dump into it.
