Inactive Gyms and Pokestops?

So I noticed that there are 2 gyms and allot of pokestops that are disabled (this pokestop is currently disabled) and only available when the park is open.

The gyms are inactive but still team colors. No one can interact with the gyms or see what is in the gyms unless the park is open.

So my question is, if someone puts a defender in the gym and the park closes and the gym become inactive, does that pokemon in the gym still count as a defender when collecting coins?

i would guess so the counter is automatic and not linked to the gym , but to the profile , may be some one is in a gym with similar behavior can confirm this to every one
