I kinda find the next CD funny

Because earlier today had a question about what the next CD might be, and the one I mentioned was chikorita and asked how useful frenzy plant on it would be. And it seems that question couldnt have come on a better day, haha....In all seriousness it seems that niantic is going to stick with the pattern of starters every other month, which considering the johto starters with the elemental hyperbeams (yes, that is what they are derivations of in the main series and are referred to as, if only hyper beam actually was that good) arent too bad, aside form chikorita, this could be interesting.
Feraligatr's going to have near kyogre level DPS, and Typhlosion will have a similar relationship to Charizard that moltres does with Entei, as they flying subtype is a blessing and a curse in some match ups

Feraligatr's DPS with Hydro Cannon is nowhere near Kyogre because of waterfall, and actually Swampert and Empoleon will outrun it (Feraligatr) if they have Hydro Cannon and will actually go close to Kyogre. And that's assuming bubble is Empoleon's fast move.

Of course it's long talk but Greninja will outrun Kyogre in terms of dps with Hydro Cannon but by that time Kyogre will likely have a primal form.

Comparing these:

DPS vs MS/SB Groudon
WF/HP Kyogre: 16.534
WF/HC Feraligatr: 15.715

Saying Feraligatr is close really isn't that much of a stretch since they're within a point apart, though Water Gun would have made that gap much smaller.

Had it been stardust bonus.. The XP bonus is not a strong incentive to participate.. And I am stuck with my 100% Meganium with petal blizzard that I was stupid enough to evolve in the past (same with my 100% Typhlosion and in the past 100% Ampharos). As several others have pointed out, there is no reason to evolve rare Mons before they have had their CD..

No surprises that they didn't repeat the stardust bonus since they've rotated so far, but they really should be trying to balance the bonus to help with otherwise undesirable CDs like Chikorita. Eevee is such a fan favorite that it would've been fine even without the best CD bonus.

I agree, I think they should go with stardust for less desirable Mons. XP is also becoming less of an issue for a growing numbers of Lv40 trainers, and is also easy to boost without too much sweat by raiding or the new friendship system.

I was super confused by this until I saw the news. Looks like Eevee was just a one-off after all.

I wish I saved one of my two 98% Quilava for the inevitable Cyndaquil day, but in my defense I got both of them before community days were even a thing.

My math on Feraligatr was wrong earlier, I was looking at its Water Gun/Hydro Cannon moveset, which is impossible to obtain unless they make Water Gun accessible again. WF/HC still comes close to it, just not /as/ close as initially believed.

My level 30/98% Quilava is sitting there waiting for all the love... so is my perfect Croconaw...my Chikorita fam is crud.

I had about 10 chikorita saved up for this eventuality, but after that post you made on my earlier question, I junked them, do I regret it? HEck no, im glad to have that extra space, only kept the best for guaranteed collection piece

It's not like anyone was surprised by Meganium not being viable even with Frenzy Plant. The guide on starters with their signature moves doesn't even give Meganium a mention.
