How many Dratini did you catch in those 3h?
I want a little comparison between the "skip catch screen exploit" vs normal gaming vs the GO Plus.
I decided not to use it, after I read about it in the Gamepress article, because it felt a little squishy and stressful when I tested it, but I'm curious if I did the right decision, so share your data please.
Didn't use the exploit and catched 183 Dratini, no GO Plus used (2 shinies)
- did 2 Rayquaza Raids btw
Edit: well, lets do a shiny rate calc then:
~2563 Dratini, 118 shiny, 1 out of 21,7

150 catches, 10 shinies, first two dratini were shiny back to back and also my last on one the last second.
Normal gaming, I was playing in my own area and there were no dratini clusters so I had to bike around and do my best to find them. A couple of times 5 minutes went by without any encounters. Could have been more efficient in more busy areas.
I knew some serious cluster spawns in my neighbourhood (just on the southern bank of the river in London), all of which spew out some 10 spawns per half an hour on normal days. I walked from cluster to cluster in a circular motion so that if I got to one cluster and done all the work, I move to the next one with the incense doing some work inbetween.
I also did not go chase 100% with the maps. If I did, I might have wasted some precious time running through areas that did not have clusters and doing so will stop me from doing this.
I honestly could have done better. I chose the windy hour to hide and do some transferring (took up some 20 minutes)....regret that a bit as I could've got a better shiny than my 78% best shiny out of 16(!)
I used the trick to skip the catch screen but I was catching 2 hours not full 3 hours
during the event: 10 shinies, 171 caught and 182 seen
but I'm little disappointed 'cause my best shiny dratini/dragonite has only 70% IV
and I'm a total idiot 'cause I forgot that I have to evolve the dragonites during the event and I did it after that so bye bye draco meteor ¯\_ツ_/¯
I was only able to play during the last hour of the event, but I managed to catch about 70 Dratini before the event ended with normal play. I didn't spot a shiny Dratini until literally the very last minute, which I successfully caught right in front of my home lol. But, I didn't have enough time to evolve it to Dragonite and get Draco Meteor, so oh well.
About 200 Dratinis caught, seven shinies. No go+ or catch animation exploit, just normal curveballs. Only two or three fled. Approximately 75% of the time was spent grinding Dratinis, and 25% appraising, transferring, and making & executing evolution decisions. I went to a high spawn rate area, and generally ignored anything other than Dratinis, although I did catch a few evolved forms for the stardust bonus, along with 4-5 Beldums.
2/3 of the time was spent playing for myself, and 1/3 was playing for my daughter, who was at home sick. I used a total of four star pieces, three for me, and one for her.
I caught 180, 12 of them were shiny. I caught a lot of the shinys at the very beginning of the event, not sure if that was coincidence or not.
My data isn't perfect, I caught every one I saw until the last half hour where I evolved 6 (had 3 ready to go before the event) and then I just "sorted". Basically high CP or shiny or no throw.
The event was extended for another 3 hours here in Asia. The first two hours was crap. Could have caught more I guess. They were everywhere here in Taiwan. 8-10 cluster spawns at a time. The exploit is useful but risky; I ended up waiting until after the second ball shake to escape. A lot of my catches errored out in the beginning. Started with 1100 candies, evolved 3 mid-grind, finished with 2328. I’m a sir lol.
