Help with team and moves

I’m a Pokémon fan but I don’t know every Pokémon’s moves and the weaknesses and strengths by heart(but I’ll get there!) and just wanted help constructing a team that doesn’t have to have a 100% win rate but at least won’t have a 100% lose rate either. How should my weaknesses be covered and who should go first? Do you recommend switching mons out? Even with the long cooldown?

For Great league I have Azumarill, FP meganium, and FP venusaur, HC blastoise, altaria, piloswine, jolteon, lapras, kingdra, and kangaskhan. They are strong but not sure how they fare with cp so low. Any help appreciated

For ultra league I want to use Flygon, FP venusaur and Ice beam lapras. What do you recommend giving second moves too or maybe even switching out entirely?Did I cover all the weaknesses?

Maybe I’m getting too into it but I really want to try to construct a strong and well thought out team

Resources are plenty for now so lay it on me. I want to invest in a smart way though

Easy investments would be in the starters. Buy Earthquake for Meganium, Ice Beam for Blastoise, and consider getting a Raichu instead of Jolteon. Cheaper to buy the second move, and while brick break isn't great, it's a fighting move, which can be very useful. Jolteon is stuck with electrics, so no subtlety or surprise, and it's not really worth buying the extra move unless you have Last Resort.

Ultra league team sounds solid, buy the poison move for FP Venusaur. Flygon is a beast, but is very specialized, maybe best not to lead off with it. Lapras is good, but expensive - Walrein is a good cheaper option, although without Ice Beam.

Have any BB Charizard? Buying DC is cheap, and very useful - great neutral damage if nothing else.

We're still learning about what's good and what's only fair. Have fun exploring it with all of us.

I'm not sure what resources you have available to you, but one of the most powerful teams I have in the ultra league (with a very high win percentage) is the following:
• Giratina - dragon breath, shadow sneak, dragon claw.
• Lapras - ice shard (legacy), ice beam (legacy), surf.
• Cresselia - psycho cut, aurora beam, moonblast.

Giratina is the opener here, with dragon breath putting out strong DPS. The charge moves both have low energy costs, so they become available quickly. With Giratina's bulk, you can take hits without usually needing to burn shields, while your constant barrage of charge attacks will often cause your opponent to use up their shields.

Lapras is there to help bring down dragons and anything that flies. It's also pretty tanky, but you may have to use a shield to keep her up. Surf charges up much faster than ice beam, so it's useful if you need to keep the pressure on more regularly (or if your opponent is weak to water).
*Personal note: Lapras with non-legacy ice moves (Frost breath and blizzard) is not as threatening.

Cresselia is the last out, typically, and functions as the cleanup crew. She's ridiculously tanky, and can sustain a ton of punishment before going down. Psycho cut has low DPS, but very good EPS, allowing you to use charge moves with good frequency (often out pacing your opponent). The two moves offer good coverage and, at this point, your opponent probably has no shields left. If you still have a shield, then you've pretty much got this in the bag. If not, Cresselia can still likely tank her way to victory.

That said, there is one flaw with this team: it isn't exactly all that fun to play against. I haven't been using it as much for this reason. In a few test runs, I told some friends exactly what my lineup was and told them to bring specific Mons to counter them. Even in those instances, they found the team difficult to deal with. But if you want a team that consistently performs well and can be brought to just about any matchup, this is the one that I would personally recommend.

You've invested insanely heavily, so it makes sense that your team would be very strong.

I'm surprised people struggled when told to bring counters...
Giratina: I'm guessing most people tried to control with Metagross (to resist dragon) and lost due to a weakness to Shadow sneak? Perhaps heatran would work better once more widely used. However Wigglytuff would be the optimal counter - having immunity tier resistances to all of giratina's moves.

Lapras with water and ice moves would also be a tough matchup. I'd imagine most players brought a fighting or electric type to try to be super effective? However these types just aren't tanky. I'd imagine a better choice would be a tanky Pokemon with an off-type electric or fighting move. Preferably something that resisted both water and ice. Poliwrath would be the best choice I guess.

Finally, Cresselia is likely the most basic of the three. Heatran double resists both of her charge moves. Any fire or steel type resists both moves - so something like Shadow claw typhlosion would probably wreck her too.

I guess my whole point here is that I'm guessing your team is insanely strong, but that the weakness isn't that it's unfun to play against - rather just one of the strengths is that most players don't have the right counters at the right CP, or at least don't know to use them.

I've definitely invested heavily into PvP, overall, but I wouldn't say this team in particular was an insanely heavy investment. I've had the Lapras forever (it used to be one of my better gym defenders an age ago), so it only needed a couple power-ups. I had plenty of candy from raiding Giratina and Cresselia, so no rares were used for either. The only costly part was the 275k dust needed to unlock the second move for all of them. It was a bit costly, but well worth it!

As for people bringing counters to tackle all 3, people mostly tried to counter Giratina with other dragons or ghosts. This typically didn't end well, as both Mons are doing SE to each other, and Giratina's bulk would outlast them. Against Lapras, the same was true with electric counters just not having enough bulk. Fighting-types (Machamp and Hariyama) give her a lot of trouble. Breloom dies way too fast from the ice moves. As for Cresselia, I have a feeling she'll be a sitting duck once someone brings a Heatran to the party. Interestingly enough, she's only had to go up against a fire or steel-type that resists her moves a few times. People usually went for a Dark-type to bring her down faster, but then Moonblast becomes an almost one-shot. Haven't faced off against a Typhlosion, but Cresselia had no problems outlasting Charizard and bringing it down on the occasions when it's showed up.

From personal experience, Shadow Claw/blast burn Typhlosion is a better counter for Cressalia than Charizard, and I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's that Shadow Claw is still such a wonderful move.

They both resist Cresselia, however Shadow claw hits her SE while charizard hits neutral.

Doesn't sound too bad. I think my team would give you a run for your money though.

Lugia (Opener, Perfect Maxed) - Dragon Tail, Sky attack + Hydro Pump
Mewtwo (96%, Lv 39) - Psycho cut, Shadow Ball + Focus Blast
Tyranitar (96%, maxed) - Smack Down, Stone Edge + Crunch

My team tends to have most corners covered, and my second moves have caught several players off with severe consequences.

Lugia has been one of my top favorites for the master league with the same moveset as yours. It's an absolute beast, even against not-so-favorable matchups.

A beast it is! Biggest danger is likely Raikou, maybe Mewtwo with Thunderbolt or ice freeze our whatever they are.
