Help setting a friend up and PvP legacies

I just recently met up with a friend who played at the start of the game, and has recently gotten back into the game (currently level 23).

I told him about lucky trades and such, and I have him a lucky eevee (for espeon) machop larvitar and dratini and one other I cant remember (Edit, remembered it was Swinub). He doesnt have the final evolutions of most top attackers registered, nor the stardust and days needed to do lucky trades, so the best I could help with was giving high level base forms he's registered. Later when we boost friendship and get the stardust I'll be sending him a lucky rayquaza possibly dialga, SA moltres and shiny mm metagross. I'd like to know what youre recommendations for the best lucky candidate for the remaining lucky for legendaries/top tier pokemon to sent him. (including poemon not currently out as I will be 4 ish months before we can trade)

In return, he sent me some of his legacy mon, RS onix, MS/Submission Poliwrath, Ice punch jynx, FC pinsir and IB lapreas and i'd like to know what your experience with any of these moves in PvP are and if they'd be worth investing in

Remember that luckies save stardust, but not candy, so a lucky Chansey or legendary would still be much harder to power up than a lucky Magikarp or Swinub. Do not give him a lucky Beldum unless you think Flash Cannon is a good move.

I'm sending him a lucky meteor mash metagross, I evolved around 16 of them and have more than enough to spare. The candy wasnt something I had considered, as in my personal experience, dust tended to be the liming factor, so thank you for bringing that up.

Lucky swinub, thats what the last one was, thank you for saying that, it just reminded me.

I should have known that you would live up to your name.

Legacy Gengar is another great option. Its candy is easy to earn from research, events and soloing when it is in rotation.

Haha, yup. Started back when beldum was released and the dratini CD (in fact started BECAUSE beldum was released) for my first one like 5 days after starting, was my buddy for all of 6 months, I prepared like heck for that CD, knowing whem Meteor mash wasnt in its moveset, knowing when they gave it to metagross, i'd be ready. Went in with 1.1k+ candy first day.

I do have a heck of a lot of lick gengar specifically for trading.

Mons that make for good guaranteed luckies: former community day Mons with their exclusive moves, legendaries that are out of rotation (emphasis on SB Mewtwo), or anything that your friend is particularly fond of. As hkn mentioned though, your friend will still need candy to power these Mons up, so in the case of legendaries, that might be a bit difficult.

As for the Mons you got in return, MS Poliwrath is disgustingly good, imo, in PvP. Pair that with power-up punch/ice punch and you're looking at a a constant barrage of all the punching for your opponent lol

That's a good point.

So submission's bad for poli then? thanks for the info, got a giratina puncher now

Submission has the same PvP energy requirement as Dynamic Punch for 30 less base damage. That's comparatively bad.

MS Poliwrath seems to be quite good in PvP after PuP was added. IB Lapras is better than B Lapras, but IS is really the legacy move that Lapras needs, at least in Tempest Cup.

Personally I prefer FB/IB+S for tempest over WG. Hitting hard Altaria and Tropius is more important than hitting Charizard or winning the mirror fight.

Helping a “friend” is trading them your high lv Tyranitar, Machamp and Espeonn and other Pokémon that no longer make your top squad for whatever trash they have just caught...What you are doing is taking advantage of a less knowledgeable person and ripping them of for legacy Pokémon and doing lucky trades that benefit you with zero consideration for what benefits them... just like you did the last time you found a returning player with .... you really are just vile

Ever heard of levels going down from trading to lower leveled trainers, or special trades needed for unregistered species?

I get you dont like me, but attacking me personally when you are flat out wrong is just being a troll

Except "whatever trash they just caught" won't be guaranteed lucky you colossal dingus. I fail to see anything wrong with giving a friend a guaranteed:

- Eevee (Espeon)
- Machop (Machamp)
- Larvitar (Tyranitar)
- Dratini (Dragonite)
- Swinub (Mamoswine)
- Rayquaza
- SA Moltres
- MM shiny Metagross
- Dialga

I can't think of anyone who wouldn't benefit from having a lucky of any of these. Maybe the Espeon, but for a returning player this makes a very good jumpstart on building a psychic team to tackle Machamp raids.

Well put there. The guy giving away the metagross clearly is a fan of that pokemon, I dont think someone who is 'vile' would trade something like that, or really anything else on that list

Jeez dude, whats you're damage? The guy said he couldnt trade those because they weren't registered. A lucky larvitar, machop or dratini's better than having none of those, so just effing chill.

'Winks is mostly a troll with a hate-boner for specific users here, and he's not even a good troll at that. Every now and then I get baited into a reply but mostly it's just easier to gloss over his posts and not bother.

I still don't quite understand your beef, Lemywinks. Practically every single time MetagrossMaxis posts, you feel the need to reply with something nasty. It's like you have notifications set up to alert you when he posts so you can reply with something trollish. Half the time, you accuse him of making "stupid" remarks but, more often than not, he's actually making a good point. You, on the other hand, are contributing nothing valuable to those discussions. You're just being a massive tool.

Either that...or you're Peppermint Patty from Charlie Brown. You have a massive crush on MetagrossMaxis but you don't know how to show it, so it's easier for you to just be really mean.

I won't make any assumptions as to which theory is accurate, but either way, please get your shit together.

I think Mr. Winks has somewhat of a point on this one, wow, it is such a favor to “give” a newbie friend common (relevant) luckies. However, it is the friend that is creating the luckies, I’ve read in the initial post that the OP is “taking” all the legacy Pokémon...uh, a friend IMO would leave at least one.

You’re under the assumption those were the only legacy ones he had, he still has an is/ib lapras, sc gengar and a double rock omastar, among others

He knew about legacy moves and we went over what ones he had, he had no problems with trading them as he saw they wouldn’t be helpful compared to a lucky other thing like eventual dragonite or machamp and has no interest in pvp (he’s a main series battler and isn’t fond of the pvp battle system)

IMO, the only legacy Pokes worth keeping are the MS Poliwrath and the IB Lapras. At that, one of them (Lapras) still needs a secondary legacy move to reach its potential. Either way, I'd argue the person giving up the legacy Pokes is getting the better end of the deal here.

In my actual opinion I doubt this is an “active” friend. I think someone gave him a level 23 old account because they don’t like the game. Which in my book is fine, exact reason I have five IB Lapras, 3 with IS

*massive yawn*
This forum is cursed. We are destined to always have a flame spewer on board. First we had harrytipper1 until he reformed, then we had mr-EX's hyperbolic daily salt until he got admitted into Arkham Asylum, but somehow we are still stuck with winkydinky here. He even was starting to post some good replies in a way that didn't make him sound like he is obligated to wear sandpaper underwear and eat dried, pre-chewed raisins or else the government will cut off his thumbs.
