Help for Mewtwo please.

First of all.. Finally! I have received my first ex pass!!! Took long enough jeez
Anyways, It’s on Saturday while I’m at work. (Go figure) and a number of people were invited. I am terrified of not catching it since I’ve raided hundreds of times and tried to do many many ex gyms( plus I have the ex gyms gold badge) so I’m not very confident illl get another chance anytime soon.
My concern is doing as much damage as possible to get my damage balls. If I didn’t work I’d camp 3 hours prior and golden razz like crazy to ensure gym bonus at least but since I won’t be there I don’t know what the gym or lobby composition will be like. All I can control is my damage. So, I already have a max Tyranitar and so is he the best possible counter? Even against focus blast? If so, should I power up another ttar (98% 14hp) to max level OR power up that same ttar and another one (98% 14A) to level 30? With optimal move sets of course.
Also what else could I use to ensure max possible damage?

It wont make huge difference if you have +10 people. Dont spend a lot on things you wont need later. Ttars are kind of safe investment. Anything else not really.

This. My first ex raid I brought in a nice rounded team (2 T-Tars, 1 Houndoom, 2 Scizors, 1 Dragonite). Got one damage ball. Guy who went in with six maxed out T-Tars got the same. Once you get past 10 raiders, it goes down so fast getting at least a second is near impossible.

Holding gyms is only slightly easier than taking a well-defended gym and both will drive you nuts. Best advice I can give you is if you have enough raiders on your own team, maybe six, go in alone if you can without leaving strays from other teams behind.

He’s not that hard to catch. Take your time, Golden Razz, wait for an attack, curve and try for a great throw. Don’t overthink it. Don’t panic. Have fun.

Straight up, from my experience, you'll be fine as long as you have a full lobby and at least two Tyranitars over Lvl 30. My son and I did our first Ex Raid a week ago and I made sure we had 6 Tyranitars each maxed out to our current Levels just in case. I even made him practice his curve's ?. In the end, we had a lobby full of low level Trainers and all we needed was two Tyranitars. To top it off, my son caught Mewtwo on his fourth ball, straight throw and it wasn't even "Excellent", "Great" or "Nice". It just is what it is. I feel you, though. Personally, I over thought every aspect right up until the egg hatched. It wasn't a pleasant experience at the time but now when I think back on it, I laugh and say to myself "it was a blast and I wouldn't change a thing".

You will have more than 1/3 chance to catch it if you throw great + curve ball with golden berry on golden badge gym. If you manage to do excellent throw it's even close to 1/2 chance (41%).
Theoretically 2-3 balls can do, just relax & enjoy :)

Chance of not catching the mewtwo with GR/ Great Throw/ Curve is 0,6525. When you do this three times, the chance that you catch mewtwo is

1-(0,6525^3)= ~0,722

So with three GR/Curve/Great throws there is still a ~28% chance of not catching Mewtwo

had my first EX raid last weekend and I felt the same way. Super nervous that I would not catch him. He is actually quite easier to catch than the other legends. He does not move side to side, he only jumps and motions attack. Just study his motion for about a minute or two then decide. I was so scared for nothing. Caught him on the 2nd throw with an excellent curve. Turned out to be a 12-12-10 76IV. Happy I caught him but not thrilled with the result.
