Good lord of the gyms

I recently moved to an area where the gym turnover is quicker and blue is the most popular. I see a red gym that's been up for a while on my way back from work during the evening. Naturally I try battle it for 15 minutes, during the end bit a car was backing up and parking.

As I was about to engage and finish off the last two pokemon, I got the stupid error 29 or whatever, and of course I couldn't manage to finish off the pokemon, and instead the two blue players in the car managed to slide in their pokemon (one being obviously the stupid unbeatable wall that is blissey).

Friggin' pissed on how poor this battle gym system is! Naturally as I'm walking away I give the couple in the car an unimpressed face for basically sniping my gym.

I don't care about *ANYTHING ELSE* (no, not even PvP) until this garbage gym system is rehauled. It's way to difficult and time-consuming to get any coins. I wish Niantic would listen for once.

Hate to be first to point it out. But being hard to get coins is a GOOD THING for Niantic - you are more likely to buy them.

In the ideal world you get enough coins, to want to buy some more.

Now, the error 29 glitch is V V annoying, better defender than a golden Razz

A few days ago, I was battling a yellow gym and halfway through, every battle started showing the white 2 (meaning that someone else had joined in, though I could not see them).

They managed to deal the final blow, so even after the gym turned blue with their Blissey, I had to wait for the + button to light up. It finally did after about twenty seconds, but as I tapped on my Chansey, the app stopped responding.

Had to close and restart to see the gym full. This was during evening peak at high-rise HDB flats in eastern Singapore, so I believe the blue players were legit. I was cheated by Niantic.

The error 29 happens when you try to battle a mon that isn't there anymore. It's one of the most consistent and non-random errors there is. When a gym is getting low, you need to be careful and make sure you're the one who gets into the last run through, as the fights will only last a few seconds and anyone else is going to have to join at exactly the right time to get into the same fight.

Kicking the defenders one by one reduces the likelihood of getting sniped, but it doesn't prevent it. The only way to 100% prevent it is to have a teammate and coordination.

EDIT: I agree that the gym system needs a serious rework, there are so many issues. But while waiting for that all we can do is to play around the flaws the best we can.

Just to add to this, the most consistent way to get error 29 is actually when taking the defenders one by one. If you knock a mon out of a gym and then escape the battle during the flash screen between battles, you are guaranteed error 29. The way to avoid it is simply to continue to the next battle and then escape.

One of the largest problems with the current gym system is the same as the old system. Only defending gets coins.
It would be much better if overall gym activity was the basis for coins. The mechanism is already in place. Maybe every 100 gym points gets a coin for instance. That would be much more fair. (It would result in fewer coins for me; but that's okay.) It would still be rough to get sniped; but at least the points from battle would count for something.

Or upon your third sweep of a gym someone feeds a golden berry to restore all six. Gym hogs ruin the game.
