Gengar Question

My question is fairly simple and because i cant find it myself ill ask it here.

Can this Gengar (IV: 14-12-12) survive enough confusions from a Alakazam raidboss to succesfully fire off one Shadow Ball?

I think it can survive 3 Confusions (Dead on 4th) so yes because its lost HP will give it additional energy,

Cut to about 2:02 the Trainer uses a Gengar with the same CP as yours and manages to get off 2 Shadow Balls. Though this may be because Alakazam used its Charged Move on Gengar's last leg, it also started more slowly because it was brought in after a lag.

As you see in the video, it doesn't matter how the Alakazam uses its charge move as long as you dodge it if it's before your second Shadow Ball has come out. The attacker has a lot of control over the bosses energy generation, which is why you will often see delaying the first SB like in the video with the second Gengar. Charge move usage for the boss is random though so they may go for 4 Confusions some of the time.

With some dodging (not over-dodging though) you can even get off 3 Shadow Balls.

You should always be able to get off 2 Shadow Balls with your L40 Gengar. 1? Not a problem.

Any level 25+ Gengar can fire off one Shadow Ball. Good hp/def IVs can survive 3 at level 30 and fire off two. Very good hp/def IV can survive 4 at level 40 which helps if you make a mistake or something.

Yours will survive 3 and should be getting off 2 SB almost every time.

Good luck! It's a worthy challenge. Your Gengar here is good for it but I'd use a second one too, even if it has Hex. As long as it can take the 3rd Confusion, it'll fire 2 Shadow Balls and provide a huge boost to your DPS, which is necessary because Tyranitars lose some due to needing to dodge FB.

I used 2 Gengars myself, both below level 35 but just able to take the 3rd Confusion.
