Fighting Gallade

Gallade has the potential to be a great fighting type. But it seems like move set will limit it. Best set seems like it would be Low Kick and Close Combat, which isn't that imposing. I know I'm speculating , but I'm trying to look at Gen 4 and see what may replace my machamp/hariyama

It should be able to learn Counter + Focus Blast, so basically another Blaziken, though.

Gallade could potentially learn some new (and better) Fighting moves, such as:

Fast: Vacuum Wave, Bulk Up
Charge: Focus Punch, Drain Punch

But yeah, it's very hard to beat Counter + Dynamic Punch. This moveset is just crazily good.

So long as Dynamic Punch is the best Fighting Move, Machamp will likely remain the premiere Fighting type in the game.

Don't count on Gallade replacing Machamp as it's most likely to have Psyco Cut & Confusion as it's Fast Attack moves, making it at best a specialty Fighting type and not a true Fighting DPS'er.

If at some point Dynamic Punch is Nerfed, or another Fighting Move like "Aura Sphere" gets a nice treatment when added (say, 3-bar 70 like Leaf Blade) then maybe Lucario will surpass it in Gen IV - but I think that's unlikely.

Focus Blast is good, but DP is great and sets itself apart from all other Fighting-Type charge moves. It's why Hariyama is such a good alternate for Machamp. Not a lot of Attack dropoff and the same Counter / DP combo.

Btw - don't expect Lucario to get Dynamic Punch. It never could learn it in the game. I don't think Machamp will be unseated as the premiere fighting type until Kommo-o in Gen VII.

Won‘t Gen 5‘s Conkeldurr threaten Machamp? It can get Counter and Dynamic Punch aswell, has a bit more attack, aswell as more HP and defense

Both Conkeldurr and Terrakion have much higher attack than Machamp. Conkeldurr can learn Dynamic Punch which will dethrone Machamp and Terrakion will hopefully learn double fighting moves such as double kick and a two bar 100 damage move to show legendary status. Both in Gen V. Machamp has only one more Gen (or less) until he’s outclassed. His stats are actually pretty bad. 234 attack? I wish that Blaziken got a two bar fighting move. I guess we will have to wait for a community day.

Sacred Sword might actually work as a good 2 bar move. Animation is relatively quick, and good power aswell. Not entierly sure about Double Kick though. I fear they might give them Quick Attack and a STAB quick move (Smack Down for Terrakion, Metal Claw for Cobalion, for Virizion and Keldeo, they‘d have to create new fast moves though, probably Magical Leaf and Bubble Beam)

You have to remember that PoGo doesn't follow the game exactly. Attack stat seems to be a blend of Attack, Sp Attack and Speed. If it was just straight attack, Hariyama would have the same Atk as Hitmonleee, but it doesn't.

Both Machamp and Heracross have 250 total combined Atk + Sp Atk + Speed. And both have the same Atk in the PoGo Game. Conkledurr has a combined 240, which leads me to believe it's Atk stat is going to be less than MaChamp in the end.

And even if it's the same or within a few pts, it won't necessarily replace Machamp, it will only supplement it. Machamp should be a safe bet until Gen VII.

Machamp is as good as guaranteed to get dethroned in gen 5. But an entire generation of use left without serious competition makes it still a very good non-legendary to invest in.

Save it for Gen IV and Gallade - if only for the Dex entry :)
