In my case, I'm level 40; received my first pass at level 39 (for a Sprint gym on Dec. 25; this EX raid was cancelled). I have since received 4 more EX raid passes, including for April 7. I now have 3 Mewtwo (two caught by my daughter because I had to work on those days).
I have to add I never had any opportunity to do legendary raids until late November (therefore no chance to get a pass); until I got the Discord invite, I didn't even know they happened in the city.
For those of you who are still waiting for your first EX raid pass: It appears to me that more players than ever are getting them now... the crowds (at both sponsored and park gyms) have been huge. My daughter, lvl 28, just got her first pass; my son, lvl 30, got his third!

I have been part of an active discord group since early August, not long after raids became a thing. But it took until February 10th before I was invited to an EX raid. But I didn’t get angry because I knew it was a matter of time. This is a game of patience. (At least it used to be.)
But yeah... getting with an organized group is key. Or if there isn’t a group, form one. Ours has gone from from just a few people to several hundred. It’s a good bunch of people and many good friendships have been made. Best part of the game imo.
Unfortunately I only got mine 300km away from home when that bug occurred that handed out passes to people for just spinning the gyms. Funnily enough I didn't receive any at my local gym where I was gold and was most likely the person that ever raided the most there.
Ever since I have moved and haven't had the chance to raid at sponsored gyms although I do raid quite a bit. It doesn't help that at my pogo community everyone has 2 or 3 accounts so I just lack motivation to have to go all the way to the sponsored gym and still not get anything.

My 11th invite is for April 7th, been to 8 of those 10. Should be able to attend next one since on a Saturday. Always interesting/loud trying to keep my son contained. I try to keep him from running back to the playground while trying to at least split into lobbies of 10. Crowd wins, 15 in two groups. ***Two more rare candy from finishing my best Mewtwo
