Eevolutions are obsolete?

Umberon in Great League aside. Is it just me or are Eevolutions pretty much obsolete for the majority of the playerbase right now?

Flareon: BB charlizard, sky attack moltress and even Entei are better; Heatran much tankier

Jolteon: Raikou, Zapdos and Electrivite rule the roost. Magnezone incoming

Espeon: Not much use for psychics in the meta now. Also outclassed by Alakazam and Mewtwo

Vaporeon: Lorded over by Kyogere and Gyarados, who are better AND have counter coverage moves. Milotic was farmable for the whole of December to boot

What do you guys think?

Flareon: only competitors are CD mon or Legendaries- for me its still great, and cheap to have. 35lvl WB Eevee and for 25 candy ready To Go mon.

Jolteon: For now its still fine option. Legendaries are expensive to get, and Electivire have hard to get candy in some biomes. Magnezone release will put him down, however

Espeon: Agree with you mostly, just Alakazam isnt that much stronger, to call it "outclass"

Vaporeon: Have more, and hardest competitors. Gary, Kyogre, Swampert, Milotic and HC Feraligatr soon. Only positive is acess to Aqua Tail- i enjoying using this move.

Umbreon: I dont play much PvP, but in Raids, gyms hes pretty useless.

Fire doesnt have much use in the meta either. So not so great. With Moltress, Entei and Ho-oh being in the research breakthrough for 3 consecutive months you should have some right?

Also Surf > Aqua tail

Ho-Oh is bad. I prefer Flareon over Entei( not worth RC). Have one maxed Moltres. My fire team still have 1 Flareon.

SA Moltres is worth RC with 2nd attack unlock, but rest nope, escpecially, like you said with low usefullnes Fire in current meta. If someone havent BB Charizards, Flareons will do job.

Ho-Oh would be somewhat decent if it had a Fire Fast Tm. Instead we have Steel Wing and Extrasensory.

Problem with that though is that Ho-Oh doesn‘t learn either Ember nor Fire Spin, and all other damaging Fire moves it gets are already Charge Moves thought of it‘s signature move Sacred Fire and the somewhat eventish Burn Up. Both would likely be a waste of moves if turned into Fast moves though, as they could both potentially become great Charge moves. Niantic would have to pull a GameFreak and give Ho-Oh Ember or Fire Spin as event move.

Yes, none of the Eevees have coverage. Most of them have terrible stats (for pvp)

Thanks to it's stats Umbreon is good.

For Raids: they always were the budget option for better Pokémon.

Well, yes. That's why I'm looking forward to Glaceon, Leafeon and Sylveon.

Mammoswine is already the annoited king of Ice types and Leafeon has to get past Frenzy Plant Venusaur and Meganium so I wouldnt hold by breath

Leafeon wont be so good, agree. But Glaceon being only second best Ice type is really good reason to get him. 2 Maxed 100% Eevees and 98% maxed Shiny waiting for.

Glaceon will be 3rd or 4th best, behind Mamoswine and Weavile and somewhat tied with Jynx.

Having the second best or a budget option doesn't make something obsolete. Also, Discharge Jolteon versus Gyarados in any environment...

I'm a level 31, and I still use Flareon and sometimes Vaporeon. During the Eevee event, and I caught a bunch of weather boosted Eevees, so I have 3 strong Flareons, and a couple Vaporeons. Personally, I like the eeveelutions because they are easily obtainable and they aren't that bad.

The only one I don't use regularly is Vaporeon. Maxed a perfect Espeon, maxed another, and maxed one each of Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon. Discharge Jolteon is wonderful.

Eeveelutions are probably one of the most practical pokemon in the game, with only 25 candies needed to evolve, they're very easy to obtain.

The Eeveelutions have always been cheap starting fighters for new players. There used to not be much else that was comparable, so that was what everyone used. But we now many more options to build up to compete with them. They are still good cheap starting fighters for new players though.

The Eeveelutions are only useful as budget options, especially for new or rural players. This has been the case since legendaries and starters with exclusive moves joined the metagame.

Rather see people use the proper Eevolutions in raids than the recommended trash the vast majority of players use when raiding

Espeon is the only one I still use in raids. Have enough blast burn charizards/typhlosions to fill out any fire team. The only time I'd use jolteon or vaporeon is if their type was double effective and nothing else was (otherwise I'll use Frenzy Plant Venusaur or smack down TTar), which I haven't encountered in a raid yet. But Espeon has been very useful for me in machamp raids. The little extra bulk was nice helping avoid a re-lobby and I don't have any psychic mewtwos. Plus I see weather-boosted Eevees fairly frequently and almost never see weather-boosted Abras.

I have a couple high level Eevees waiting to become glaceon or leafeon, though I already have a weavile and a thousand Swinub candies waiting to become mammoths...

Yup, thankfully they are all done for. NEver been a fan of this line, finally they get knocked down to being stepping stones like they always were in the main games.

They never were great options aside from espeon for fighting type take downs, the only thing that gave the others a leg to stand on was the RC cost of legendaries raid wise; trading and breakthroughs has made that less of an issue. Glaceon could have had a spot, but, Mamoswine.

Also, they are far from practical. you have a 33% chance of getting the one you want when evolving, unlike the set candy cost to get a guarantee from other lines. Theres also the shared candy pool between 5 different fully evolved pokmon You could spend 25 anf get a flareon/vap/jolt or get unlucky and get only the other 2 ( jolteon's also useless because luxray and electivire as so much better and nonlegendaries, whole line's a 5k distance, not worth it when the same distance gets things liek tyrantiar, dragonite and metagross more candy). They are an RNG line,, might get lucky, might not. Also dont seem to be too common nowadays, even before the ice event.

"Milotic was farmable for the whole of December to boot"

Not for everyone...

..but yes eeveelutions are pointless now except for team fillers
