Dragon Tail or Extrasensory on PVP Lugia?

I want to use my Lugia for Masters League and i gave it Hydro Pump as its sub (It also had sky attack.) What should i use as a fast move; Extrasensory or Dragon Tail?

I figured out that it might not be that useful in a raid now, but Dragon Tail allows me to kill those pesky Dragons easily and also does a bit more in case of a clutch tyranitar or metagross. But Extrasensory will retain usefulness in other mundane situations like gyms or raids. What should i use?

From what ive heard, dragon tail doesnt do much to dragons when coming from lugia. Giratina likely will beat a lugia because of dragon breathe/ancient power.

But i'd say dragon tail over extrasensory because of not being resisted by Mewtwo and doubly by Tyranitar, who's movesets will always be carrying something lugia's affraid of.

Both moves have the same EPT while Dragon Tail has slightly more DPT. As you mentioned, Dragon Tail will help Lugia more in unfavorable PvP matchups. For this reason I'd keep Dragon Tail.

I don't know how regularly you use Lugia for raids but Fast TMs in my experience are common enough that being able to toggle between each move as needed shouldn't be too restricting. I think I'm sitting on nearly 50 of them because I have literally nothing to use them on.

I think this is going to depend entirely on the people you PVP against. If they regularly use Pokémon that are resistant to Psychic, then go with Dragon Tail. Otherwise, the STAB from ES is probably going to make up the slight difference in damage between the two.

Overall, I'd probably start with Dragon Tail because of Meteor Mash Metagross, and how much we all love it. (Okay, I love it, and I'm projecting.) DT does neutral damage to it, which makes it a clear winner for me.

A couple points here.
1.) I don't think STAB is applied in PvP.
2.) DT is resisted by Metagross. It's still superior since Extrasensory is doubly resisted.

Huh. I totally forgot that Steel resists Dragon. My bad!

Also the PVP guide here is really nebulous on the STAB in PvP point. Trainer Battle Update Analysis, "Remember the good ol’ days when STAB and type effectiveness both used a 1.25x multiplier? Changing the effectiveness multiplier to 1.4x increased the importance of type advantage. The effectiveness multiplier has been increased again, this time to 1.6x - a change that, among other things, nerfs Pokemon like Blissey that were charted to be the TDO queens of the metagame." That's the only mention of STAB in the guide; to me, it sounds like you get either STAB or Effectiveness bonus, and the Effectiveness bonus is more important than STAB. If STAB isn't applied at all, it might be worthwhile for the guide to make a definitive statement on the matter.

But if STAB doesn't apply in PVP, then yeah, DT is the way to go primarily.

I just went though that article again. One of the lines in the Mechanics Specific to PvP section lists the same 1.2 multiplier for STAB under the game master details. This leads me to believe it's still applied, but someone else here was adamant it wasn't. Only applying it in specific scenarios feels wrong to me - I'd assume it's either active or it's not.
