Does Ditto remain transformed when switched?

I was wondering if it were possible to transform Ditto, switch him out, and bring him back transformed in a later round.

It is. He stays as his transformation until you leave the round.

Yes. The original transformation sticks. if the First Transformation is to Pikachu then when you switch back it's still Pikachu.

Thanks. I asked because it seemed like a good use for Ditto to copy a Mon at the bottom of a gym that was a counter higher up. It doesn't make sense if I have the real guy to begin with, though.
