I’d switch your level 35 to SB at the least. At the most I’d take your new one to 35 and give that one SB. Especially with fighting candy everywhere. I have 3 Mewtwo at 30, another boosted one at 27, and a maxed 15a/11/15...most have SB. Mine are too much, but going 35 to 40 really ended my Mewtwo investing
Do I pump more rare candies into another Mewtwo when I already have one?
I should begin this by adding some context. I try to raid a few times a week, usually every weekend, so rare candies aren’t necessarily ‘rare’ to me but I definitely do not have a surplus (I have 57 at the time of composition). So keep in mind these rare candies are pretty valuable to me. I’m pretty solid on stardust, so that’s really a non factor.
Now to the particulars of my issue. I have 2 Mewtwo’s worth mentioning. One is level 35 with 15-10-13 (84%) and PC FB as moves. My recently caught Mewtwo, is a 15-12-13 (89%) and at lvl 20 with C P (although will probably tm for SB). My question is, is it worth it? I know, the difference is slim, but I feel I could use another Mewtwo with a different set of moves, especially the highest damaging one. On the other hand, I feel using rare candies on a different legendary to fill another niche would probably be more useful and therefore beneficial as I do have a few holes in most type-specific teams, namely Zapdos as I don’t have the strongest electric team.
I have another EX pass for a raid on the 14th, so no decisions will be made until then. Just in case that Mewtwo ends up being 91%+

I got an 80% IV Mewtwo with 13 attack so I powered him up to level 40. I need 2 more Mewtwos with Attack at 14 or 15 to power up. Their useful in raids vs fighting types. Ive had 6 Ex Raid passes in the last 3 months. I missed two, I caught 3 Mewtwos, but they are all weak. The one I powered up was my strongest. I got another raid tomorrow, so Im hoping he's a high level one. I got 366 candies pumped into Mewtwo BTW. Enough to power up two more. lets see if the ex raid systems works for me.
So i waited for the longest time and did not get an ex pass until the end of January. It was a 84% 13 attack. I maxed it immediately. No regrets.
The problem is that Rayquaza is a better all around for taking gyms down, so mewtwo is not needed for that.
For the Latios/as raids, i have a bunch of powered up dragons and ttars. I do not use my Mewtwos for them usually. They just arenot in my top 6 per pokebattler.
I dont find it useful with focus blast. Machamps are much easier to get and make and are better for fighting type matchup.
If you dont have a bunch of rarecandy laying around I would hold off on powering up another unless you get an amazing one. There are a lot of other priorities out there. Max a Rayquaza if you have not done so yet. I have maxed 2 actually...
If your fighting team is in a good shape, I'd rather recommend that you TM your already powered up Mewtwo to SB and see how much you use it. Mewtwo is a great pokemon but multiples of it are not that useful at the moment. I have one with SB maxed and honestly can't think of much use if I were to power up a second one.
Raikou and Kyogre would be my top candidates for rare candy at the moment, but if those are not a possibility, Rayquaza is good and Zapdos is ok.
I use Mewtwo mostly for Machamp raids and the occasional gym clear. Everyone's different but I haven't maxed one yet because I just don't need it most of the time. I have 3 maxed Dragonite's and therefore haven't maxed a Rayquazza because my rare candies can be more useful elsewhere for now. I will eventually get around to it but I would say Rayquazza, Kyogre, and Raikou are more useful than Mewtwo. Everyone will have a slightly different answer depending on how RNG has treated them in the development process.
