Death and destruction comes to Pokemon go in an alarming rate

I know this moltres community day doesn't affect its fire attacker seat much but it should be considered that niantic STOMPS and DESTROYS paid players with such predecents.

Listen, nothing good can come from this. There will be a future where there will be a groudon and kyogre community day with exclusive moves that makes everything obsolete.

Death and destruction is coming to this came and it is well propecized as near future fact, and it seems like it's coming.

As much as I want to agree with your statement, it'll always be a power creep in a game. Without it, a game will become stale. This becomes very hard in a world of Pokemon because it's not guaranteed the next generation pokemon will be more "Overpowered" (in terms of base stats) than the previous generation (looking at you three, weather trio). So one of the way to "step up the game" is to tweak them during their comebacks. Whether by bringing a shiny or a new movesets.

It will come. Precipice Blades and Origin Pulse will come and break the meta. Maybe with community day raid, maybe not. And after that, their primal form as well. For those who want to play the waiting game and power up later, it's up to them. But I enjoy plowing those Regirocks with my army of HP Kyogre now and doesn't look back.

Your random weather boosted Machop do it better and you know it :p

Kyogre does better with ultra friend boost iirc. And while I agree with your point that machamp is a more efficient investment, that's the point of the game right? To raise your favorite pokemon, and to do things the way you like to do. Just a matter of preferences I guess, and I appreciate your point of view.

Of course, I agree with you. That's the point of the game, using what you like. Not just what's on the top of a spreadsheet being 0.023 DPS points stronger

Well, some paid players have more money in their pockets and they seem to be spending it, seeing how Niantic is going forward with these exclusive events.

Personally I stopped spending money so I can't be hurt anymore. I'll take what I can get for free and enjoy it while it lasts.

I stopped spending money as soon as I recognized the "first legendary wave, wait, second shiny legendary wave, wait, third legendary wave with special move" pattern.

I'm just not getting jerked around like that.

Spending money on this game goes against my whole stance on freemium tactics, yet for big raid days and to a lesser extent community days I enjoy the camaraderie of actually playing the game with people. I never spent money on the game when I used to play solo, but I've gotten enough enjoyment out of doing so while playing among friends that I don't completely regret it. I just wish the fun from events like this didn't actively fuel shitty business practices.

Big raid days and CDs with a group of friends are tons of fun. I'm sitting on a pile of premium passes for the former and the latter doesn't require any investment of money, although star pieces are nice when that bonus is on. Most of my coin income going forward will be dedicated to ultra boxes that have good deals on passes and star pieces.

And an asteroid driven by the new world order global conspiracy, which Niantic is part of, will soon blow the Earth to pieces! This is evidence folks, we're all doomed while they'll enjoy peaceful days on Mars!

lol

Well, generalised riots are on the horizon. Considering that gen 4 might not come until Nov/Dec but we've been teased about its imminent release for months (and we still are), it's normal that people are going to be upset.
To fill in the gap, while we wait for gen 4, there will be loads of return events for Kyogre, Rayquaza, Groudon (and possibly Lugia once again). Some of them with brand new moves making obsolete their previous versions. They're telling us not to power up anything we like. Lol

You left out that Ho-Oh-No-No will return yet again for its 6th (?) 7th (?) time. I lose count. LOL

I like your cautious (pessimistic) thought that Gen 4 may be delayed further ... maybe much later. The hypesters and Fanbois are whining for its imminent release. Still waiting for that August evolution event!!

Let's take it as caution. Don't want to be pessimistic, but facts are saying that September is already a packed month in terms of events (yokosuka challenge, moltres day, entei's month, celebi quest line, chikorita CD) and Niantic likes to have a few days of cooling down between events. Don't see gen 4 coming this month.

Also, for gen 3 there was already this discussion that it would be released before the end of summer/autumn because winter was the worst time to get out. But despite all that gen 3 came in winter to the North hemisphere. Let's hope I'm wrong and we're catching new pokemon already in October.

I still have a working theory that Niantic saves all the good shit for when it's winter in the north to keep the game from completely dying off.

We just had what I believe was the third Ho-Oh release. I've lost count of how many times Lugia has been here AND I forgot about the entire weather trio showing up at once briefly until someone mentioned it to me the other day.

Lugia's been around 3 or 4 times depending on if you count its accidental re-release between the Latis.

I don't like this precedent any more than you do, but it's really hard to take your posts seriously when they're loaded with embellishment and over-exaggeration. You sound like one of those street-corner "end of days" preachers.

All those whining who have 6 maxed out Kyogres, 6 maxed out Groudons, etc, just ask yourselves, did you really need that many? Did you really expect down the line that better versions wouldn't be released? Game needs to be progressive, personally I'm looking forward to the new moves.

I think the group of 24/7 A$$ Ketchups are the least problematic. They will complain and cry but in the end they go there and do their 40raids, pay and shut up.

And if You think about it thats the last group of players who should complain. It makes the difference between them and the better part time guys who were catching up bigger again because they have the dust to invest in the new super-Pokémon

I think its a good thing they shake things up to give new stimulation. Liked to see that they made Venusaur and Charizard relevant (again). But they really shouldnt give Pokémon who are already on Top even better moves. Because it makes the already few Pokemon that could be relevant (and Gen4 is very strong) even fewer.
Whats with Gen 5, 6, 7? Will there even be relevant Pokémon anymore if they continue at this rate?

The key is to make old pokemon relevant again (by old I mean owned for a while) while not making it impossible for new players to get comparable utility from the same pokemon, all while keeping a semblance of balance and not breaking the meta.

Zapdos opened Niantic's eyes to the notion that people with a heavy investment in a pokemon that has now become obsolete get upset. Moltres isn't getting buffed as much as it's utility is expanding. Your FS/OH Moltres will be just as relevant as it was before the upcoming CD. You just have another flavor (FS/SA) of Moltres to develop.

Their history throughout this game seems to be to bring new things to the table, occasionally stumble, and then do it better the next time. Given that, and the popularity of raid days (and the increased sales of premium raid passes), I think all the 'sky is falling' sentiments are overblown. Of course, they could do anything, but they can also undo everything. If SA Moltres turns out to be overpowered, they can always dial it down somehow - perhaps even nerfing Moltres SA while not doing so to Lugia.

All the things people worry about - signature moves, mega forms, new moves, will be used to help keep the old pokemon relevant in light of the constant power creep that has to happen to keep the game fresh. Niantic's job is to balance all that to keep things even and interesting. As soon as one pokemon becomes meta disbalancing the game is broken, and if they fix it by nerfing that one, everyone with one (or more, and especially if they made a heavy time/resource investment in that one) will be livid. The other alternative is to buff everything else, which requires them to rebalance everything while doing so, an incredibly difficult task.

Does anyone remember early on, when we just had Gen1? The best fire attacker? Arcanine. Better than Flareon, better than Charizard. We didn't have TMs, we didn't have raids, we didn't have trading, we didn't even have gyms, or nanab and pinap berries. Anyone complaining about how their Arcanine faded into obscurity? But if my Raikou becomes the second best Electric attacker, well, there will be blood in the streets, .... Get a grip. Chill.

It's a fun little game, a nice distraction from the pressures of modern life. Enjoy it until you don't enjoy it anymore, and then move on to something else.

I remember when all you needed to do was spamming your vaporeon's water gun. But it's a long way from that time.

What do you think is going to happen when they release Mewtwo worldwide to everyone for a three hour time (which is predicted to be the ultra bonus unlock) and gives it Psystrike making all those EX passes people tried so hard for worthless. It’s coming.

Power Creep is a reality in games like this and Niantic has shown repeatedly they want the casual player that plays an hour a week to have parity with the player that grinds 15 hours a week... Is it fair? No, is it reality yes... So basically you need to enjoy the grind no matter if the rewards are short lived or become a casual player that gets legendary Pokémon in a box every week and just plays special events...

I don't know about anyone else but I haven't actively tried for an EX pass in a long time. I powered up my Mewtwo I got back in September-ish during the field test period and that's it, despite having caught another 8 or so since then. On top of that, I've had to miss about half of all EX raids I've been invited to.

As long as you raid at known EX gyms somewhat regularly the passes will drop in your lap sooner or later. Maybe you'll even get one that doesn't require to take time off from work or other obligations for. Depending on how connected you are with your raiding community I think the days of getting a pass being a headache are behind us.

EDIT: On the topic of Psystrike; While there's some power creep it's not like it's leaps and bounds better than Psychic, barring a master update to the move that is. The Shadow Ball sets are still the better generalist ones anyway.
