The curse of the upgrade!
I have so many evolutions waiting on special items right now. Since gen 2 I had collected a dragon scale and 2 upgrades. It was a month since I was lucky enough to get anything on a spin, so I welcomed the 7 day streak this morning only to receive.... Another upgrade!
I feel like I just saw the Ring movie. "Seven days..."

I know many people complain, but I kinda like how rare these are, even if it infuriates me that I have yet to get a single Kings Rock yet. I have grinded more than 1,2 million XP since gen 2 came out, so of course I have some evolution items, but that one has escaped me. I have collected 6 sunstone, 2 metal coat, 3 dragon scale and 1 upgrade so far.
Maybe You spin-off the same stop for your 7-th day? Some stops got higher chance for certain items. My closest stop for example also give me "upgrade" for 7-th day spin-off at first week of 2nd gen & not only for me - I believe it is something more than coincidence in that. Try another stops & I hope that info helps You in some way. Best wishes & good luck next time!
I think the underlying frustration is not so much the rarity of evolution items; but the fact that they don't seem proportional to the number of pokemon that require them. I too have gotten as many upgrades as porygon (2). It would not be an issue if pory was more common, or upgrades proportionally less common (compared to other items).
I have spun 11,183 pokestops since gen 2, and have gotten precisely 1 dragon scale and 1 metal coat. I have 5 Porygon, all hatched, and 63 Porygon candy, so I would welcome an upgrade, or any evolution item. My 7 day streak is tomorrow so we'll see…
Does anyone know if you can still get evolution items at random, or is it on the 7 day streaks ONLY? If 7 days only, I need to quit grinding stops and return to farming nests.
