The "big 19" basic explanation – Flareon (week 1-2) – Ember and FS

Flareon week: https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/q-a/big-19-basic-explanation-flareon-week-1-1-new-series-start-only-13-pokemon-will-be-explained

Overheat is an AMAZING charge move! It has a decent cooldown and superior power to Fire Blast.

Flareon is now a decent attacker. When with 10/10/10 IV and the defender has 100 DEF stat and the same level:
FS + Overheat: 32.467 cycle DPS over 15 seconds.
Ember + Overheat: 30.5 cycle DPS over 14 seconds.

When with dodges, the comparison uses real in-game mechanic, but the quick move lasts for 1+2 seconds, and the charge move (yellow flash appears 6.3 seconds after the move text appears) lasts for 7+2 seconds:
FS + Overheat: 30.4375 cycle DPS over 15+1 seconds.
Ember + Overheat: 28.467 cycle DPS over 14+1 seconds.

We can see that FS (Fire Spin) is superior to Ember, though charges the charge move slower, it still outputs more cycle damage.

If counting the damage over 99.3 seconds without dodges:
FS + Overheat: 3106 total damage output.
Ember + Overheat: 3006 total damage output.

100 total damage (1.007 DPS) difference seems to be pretty big.

Next post, is still Flareon!

Solar beam is a more amazing charge move though. With Exeggutor's better HP and resistance to both ZH and Psychic, its a better all round Blissey destroyer. I tried Flareon with FS/OH against a dazzling gleam Blissey, where it should be slightly advantageous but over the 70 seconds or so, you only have to miss one dodge on a DG and your winning HP margin becomes wafer thin: Flareon (like Machamp) does do amazing damage but is just a bit fragile. I'll stick with Exeggutor for Blissey I think, and reserve my little Flareon for those (now rare) chances to burn up grass in the gym.
