The "big 19" basic explanation – Flareon (week: 1-1) – The new series start? (only 13 Pokémon will be explained in this series)

If you don't want to read this series, please consider just skip it.

Flareon is a viable attacker into Blissey, with an 246 base ATK while resisting Blissey's Dazzling Gleam.

With the addition of Overheat, Fire Blast loses to it in every known way. (yellow flash, DPS, energy cost, power, STAB, cooldown) Overheat does eventually massive damage to water Pokémon, which resists it, and is able to kill the big grasses with just 1 hit.

=Attacking=

Heat Wave is a Flamethrower that does more damage with only 1 bar.

Ember, though not elite, is the best quick move for Flareon for dodging.

Fire Spin outputs more damage with only 0.1 more seconds cooldown.

=Defending=

Flamethrower, being the only move with 2 bars that Flareon is able to learn, is likely to hit at least once against water.

Overheat takes too long time to charge for defense. Especially Hydro Pump is now buffed.

Heat Wave and Fire Blast are weaker versions of Overheat at gym defending.

Next post is still Flareon!

Good start, i learned something.

Moveset evaluation: Confusing. You mix legacy and actual movesets, compare something without to tell what you compare with, it is not always transparent if you speak of an attacking or defending moveset (why should flareon defend anyway...)

Quite better than some previous episodes.
Now, with some constructive feedback:
1. "Heat Wave is a Flamethrower that does more damage with only 1 bar."
Confusing, one can deduce that Heat Wave is preferable. I would phrase it differently and with emphasis on currently available move.
FlameThrower, the only 2 bar move, per 1 bar power is almost equal with HeatWave (and identical DPS)
2. "Ember, though not elite, is the best quick move for Flareon for dodging."
Best and dodging to a 1 sec move does not sound right to me :).
New: Ember, though not elite, is marginally better for dodging.
But I don't think there is a realistic case in which you can hit 2 Ember and cannot hit 2 firespin.
1.5 sec minimum delay + 0.7s for a decent defending move => 2.2 seconds = 2 firespins
2.5sec maximum delay + 0.7 sec decent def move => 3.2 seconds - might be bale to put 3 embers, but would you risk?

Flarion in all honesty is trasheous as defender. It destroys as atacker with FS/OH but gets destroys itself due to frailty.
