With the new addition of dark Pokémon and some stronger bug Pokémon, Exeggutors in the gym can now be beaten easily.
Murkrow, Scizor, Forretress and other Pokémon can beat Exeggutor pretty easily, if they dodge charge moves.
Fitting flying (notably Hurricane, 2.7 seconds) and bug (notably Megahorn, 2.2 seconds) charge moves during Confusions is easy, while fire moves (notably Overheat, 160 power) being able to kill Exeggutors in one hit.
Now, it is the "wanted moveset" time!
Wanted moveset for defense: Hidden Power + Ancient Power (type coverages and does decent damage)
The Hidden Power type: Fighting
Ideal moveset for attack: Confusion OR Extrasensory OR Bullet Seed + Solar Beam (depending on the opponent)
Ideal moveset for defense: Confusion + Seed Bomb (Confusion is one of the strongest quick moves in the game)
