Auto-Select Team for Kyogre Raid

In the first couple of Kyogre Raids I have done I have been surprised at the choices made by the auto-select. Normally they are good, but I have high Raikous, Groudons and other grass pokemon to use, but auto-select uses about 1 or 2 Raikous but largely has gone for Lugia, Cloyster and Magneton. Can anyone explain this?

Autoselect seems to prioritise survivability over damage, so usually Pokemon with resistance to the opponent's moves will be selected, or really tanky Pokemon like your Lugia.

Thanks. I wondered if that was it. But to pick a low CP Cloyster over a 3700 Groudon seems very strange.

Cloyster double resist blizzard and Groudon is weak to it. In this case Cloyster will still be bulkier, but useless.

As others have said it picks the Pokémon that will resist what the charge move is. The recommended team I look at to determine what I actually going to use...

But either way I usually just use my 6 2500+ solar beam execuggers especially if it is sunny, and then finish off with Jolteons.

I didn’t find a group to raid with before Ho-oh so I have no Raikous :/

In addition to picking the bulkiest option, For some reason the auto select also seems to prefer 1-bar moves. I think because it calculates damage per use rather than per energy.

Therefore, it’ll choose mons with thunder over thunderbolt or wild charge, solar beam over leaf blade etc.
