Any reason to hold onto?

I'm trying to clear out as much storage as I can before beldum day (only have 600 spots and dont think its worth it to spend several hundred coins to upgrade storage for pokemon im just holding onto for long distance trades when I have other pokemon I can toss)

I'm wondering if with gen 4 and the CP rebalance, is there any place for the following pokemon:
Haryama Jynx (got a 96% of both) Houndoom, Slaking, Exeggutor (both sets, no legacy confusion) omastar (98% one, no legacy moves) Donphan and any hex gengar
I was also wondering about Wigglytuff and Clefable, I know they were ok on defense because their fairy type and there's been a lack of good steel and poison types to use against them, but with Roserade on the way and Meteor mash metagross in literally 2 days at most depending on where you live, I feel thats going to change.

Clefable and Wigglytuff were decent in gyms because they either slow down Machamp or force a switch. They’re not necessarily good at defending, they just take up time.

Hariyama will still be okay, it just loses some bulk.
Houndoom will still be decent. If you don’t have a full team of psychic counters or like variation then it’s usable.
Slaking is and has always been trash. Send it to the grinder. Its only usefulness is making gyms tower and deterring casuals from attacking.
Jynx will still be a decent counter if you need an ice attacker. If you don’t have a full team of Mamoswine when it’s released or Articuno, you might want Jynx. Or again if you like variation.
Omastar without legacy moves is underwhelming.
Donphan is decent. It can double as a budget Tyranitar counter with Counter and Earthquake. On defense it has Play Rough which hurts Machamp.

And most importantly, upgrade your Pokémon storage. 600 is not enough. I’m at 1000 and even that’s not enough. I have 70~ set aside for distance trades for my friends (I’m well over the gold medal for distance trades), as well as tons of dratini, ralts, larvitar, beldum, etc waiting to trade for bonus candy (or transfer if the Halloween candy event is better).

Already got psychic counters and good mamoswine candidates (somewhat disappointing ground set actually helped, had 8~ set aside incase both sets were good).

I know Haryama's main thing was it lasted a bit longer than machamp at the cost of DPS, but ive heard that the rebalance dropped its TDO to below machamp and buffed breloom a bit, wasnt 100% on if haryama was still worth it.

I am aware of storage increase, but thats a last resort for me, I prefer playing it safe with coins, I dont spend money on the game, and after missing more than a few good Boxes, I only get storage when absolutely desperate or the current boxes are bad (currently waiting to see if the boxes change for beldum day) I only started in febuary,

Storage upgrades are the best use for hard-earned gym coins.

Toss Wigglytuff and Clefable. I would keep the rest.

Also, you're mistaken about storage. Expanding your storage is a great value.

I personally dont spend money on the game, only gym coins. I never said expanding storage was bad, I just dont know if spending 6-800 cons for a single day's storage boost would be worth giving up a potentially good box, they've been having ultra boxes on CD's. I know boosting inventory is useful extra 50 spots = 150 trade candy. But I dont know what the event box is, I dont want to count on the event box being bad and missing out on good items. If the event box is bad, of course i'd up space.

You need to consider the long term benefits of storage, especially with Gen IV being staggered. You'll want the space to hold more in general, not just Beldum.

Its also worth considering that the special bonus this time around is quarter egg hatching. So its unlikely the boxes are going to be that great maybe a good deal on some incubators. Yawn!

I said it in an earlier question, upgrading storage (box or bag) is among the best use of coins. Even if it seems silly up front you'll eventually be glad to have it, especially now that a new generation is being rolled out.

I planned on eventually uping storage, but with the possibility of tomorrow having an event box, I dont know if the current ultra would be replaced with a CD specific ultra box. Of course if the box is the same or its also bad, i'd up space in a heartbeat.

I only really spend coins on storage when I have enough coins to buy it and have enough left over for a good box (if the box is bad, then i'd up storage as I'd have more than enough time to get enough coins for the next box)

But the question was also about what to toss, I know increasing storage would fix it, but i'd also like to not have my storage crowded with other pokemon that arent useful/special to me for save of organization and clearing the clutter, tossed a few LR vap and summer hat pichu a while back, and traded a few shinies I didnt care for, I tend to only use storage increases as a last resort.

I have 1500 in storage and thats not enough. I don’t get rid of legendarys, shinys, regionals, and try to keep a living dex. They really need to up the storage space.

Ah. I know a lot of people like that. Personally, I only keep shinies or legendries I like/ are special to me or keep at least one of, any other shinies/legendaries I get I send to others (got 2 natu and a drowsie sending a friend) Agree they should boost storage, I think they might when gen 4 fully launches.

I only have 550 storage and won't need to upgrade till later in gen4. If your comfortable with 600 and you have what you need go for it.

I like houndoom dark set. Keep anything 95+. Be interesting with your defensive mons not just a bunch of tanks with no teeth

Storage is a permanent upgrade. There is absolutely nothing in the store that's a better buy than the storage and inventory upgrades.

Everything else is temporary. New ultra box? Temporary. Whatever you get isn't even remotely worth as much as the 50 slots that will stay with your account forever.

Just buy the damn space!

My kids are stuck at 450 slots. They've been told by Daddy that their next few days worth of coins (which are few and far between for them) have to go to space. I want them up to at least 600. They usually have 430+ mon at any given point.
