Alolan forms! My favorite coconut tree is coming!

The only Pokémon I thought of in terms of being meta relevant were Eggy and Golem. Eggy would be interesting if it learned Dragon Tail/Outrage combo or Golem with some weird combo or electric and steel moves. Maybe charge beam/thunderbolt as some weird tanky electric type but he would be horrible against Pokémon with ground moves. I do like the idea of Alolan Sandslash, really liked him at least

I already have 100% Exeggutor from a raid, so would be great to add a different looking tree to the team. Then there are shinies, I could keep double psychic shiny eggs and double dragon, and double grass if the alolans come with shinies.

Eggy will not have any advantage as a dragon type over other dragons in the game. But the extra resistance to water will make him an even better counter to water if he get good grass moves.

Also may be useful vs ground. Not sure about its stats though. But double weak to ice unfortunately.

Actualy its use maybe in getting the dragon metdal a heck of a lot easier, given the candy requirements to get an exeggutor, and the abundance of exeggute in the wild, plus, against palkia it may be good cuz of the water resistances, though this does make me wonder about mega evolution a lot more.

There's an abundance of Exeggcute in the wild? O.o I'm lucky if I find a nest or get the "Hatch an egg" quest for it or find a raid with the coconut tree.

theres a park about 3-4km from where I live, I bike up there, and theyre everwhere, same with charmander, of course most are trash, but I have like 200+ candy for them, and now can make use of them

That sounds better than the closest park I have. Only normal trash lives here, except for the large nest of whatever happens to come during migrations.

3 less attack than normal, same def and hp. It's going to have tons more TDO against water-types and fire coverage moves with a neglible or zero loss in DPS.

Anyone have a summary of what we are talking about here? Shiny, new stats, new moves?

Idk about shinies but I’m going off of what I know from the games. There is no guarantee the alolan forms with have new moves but it would be really harsh if they didn’t given many have completely opposite typing. I go to Bulbapedia for my info

They will probably be like castform with different form variants. Stats should be very close to the original form, but moves will definitely change since they have different typing.

Do these evolve from our existing mons or will we have to collect them all over again in new form?

I don't know how Niantic will go about this, because in the games you had to be in Alola for some to evolve (for ex, you took your eggs to Alola from any other region, they grew into longneck coconut tree).
I guess Niantic will either create special Alolan items to use on them, or you have to catch them in the wild and are predetermined Alolan ones. Or maybe a mix, Alolan items for those whose prior forms are like Kanto ones (pikachu, exeggcute, cubone) and Alolan wild forms for those who are completely different (geodude, meowth, grimer, vulpix, rattata, sandshrew, diglet). Or maybe just quest rewards.

maybe it will be like slowpoke, where you can pick which one you want to evolve into, for pikachu/egg/cubone. but whatever they do, I just want my coconut dragon so I can get that medal

I think in the games exeggutor and raichu evolve from the original form and the rest are different.

Yeah for example: "In Alola, Raichu has a regional variant that is Electric/Psychic. It evolves from Pikachu when exposed to a Thunder Stone. All Pikachu in Alola will evolve into this form regardless of their origin." ~Bulbapedia.
But if we were to go by that, in GO we'd have to take them to Hawaii. But I hope it's just a different evolution branch for them and the other ones they share common pre-evolutions.

I hope they do something for alolan golem, because that thing is going to WRECK lugia, maybe a raid boss or something?

I just hope we can use normal geodude candy to evolve it. I have over 13,000

I can already see people putting Alolan coconuts over gyms... it's the new Wailord, except on vertical this time.

This is cool and also a greenlight to start rolling out Megas since clearly they aren't bound to waiting for the proper generation.
