Offensive Moves Explanation
  • Razor Leaf is ideal for Victreebel’s niche as Water and Rock-type slayer.

  • Solar Beam and Leaf Blade are both stellar charge moves. Solar Beam has higher theoretical peak DPS, but Leaf Blade often performs better in practice.

  • Acid can be paired with Sludge Bomb to take on Fairy-types like Clefable; it’s the best Poison-type moveset in the game. However, Poison-type offense isn’t as important as Grass-type offense.
Defensive Moves Explanation
  • Razor Leaf does more damage than Acid on defense, but Acid is more effective against Victreebel’s Fire and Flying-type counters.

  • Sludge Bomb is trickier to react to, has 2 bars, and is neutral against Victreebel’s type counters, making it a good pick for defense.

  • Leaf Blade shares many of the advantages of Sludge Bomb, except for type coverage. It also has a lower energy cost.

  • Solar Beam will not likely get used due to Victreebel’s low staying power. If it does get used, it’s likely to be dodged.
Rating Explanation:

Grass-type Pokemon in general do well for their ability to damage meta-relevant Vaporeon and choice raid bosses (Rhydon, Blastoise, Lapras). Victreebel is one of the more potent Grass-type attackers in the game, sporting stellar DPS, but it’s glassy due to a low Defense stat.

On defense, Victreebel has an easily exploitable typing and bad defensive stats to boot.

Raid Boss Counters
SupremeOverall best counter always. Almost always top in DPS and very high in survivability. The Pokemon you want for the job.
GoodThe next best if you don’t have Supreme Pokemon.
TankWhen you’re down to your 5-6th Pokemon and need to hold the line and not suck while doing it. Tanks always have more survivability than Supreme, but less DPS than Good.
GlassMore DPS than Good with significantly less survivability. Note: Less DPS than Supreme.
