PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Acid has better DPS and neutral coverage, while Infestation has higher energy gain.
  • Grass Knot outperforms Stone Edge on neutral damage, but both have their matchups.
  • Bulldoze serves no purpose on offense.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Acid’s advantage is its neutral coverage, while Infestation gains energy much faster.
  • Grass Knot is strong and has 2 bars, which is appropriate for Cradily’s average bulk.
  • Stone Edge is the most likely charge move to hit if Cradily manages to use it.
  • Bulldoze is both weak and easily reactable.

PVE Overview

Cradily has almost nothing to its name; unimpressive stats and no STAB fast moves make it hard to distinguish itself as a tank. With better bulk, it would’ve been a cool defender, but it’s still weak to Fighting-types.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Infestation + Stone Edge and Grass Knot

Infestation (2 DPT/3.66 EPT) is Cradily’s best fast move, building energy pretty quickly. Pair this with Stone Edge (100 power/55 energy) and Grass Knot (90 power/50 energy) to give very solid coverage, only being walled by Steel-types and certain dual-type Fighting Pokémon.

Bulldoze (80 power/60 energy) isn’t very good. While you certainly could swap out either of the other moves to give you anti-Steel coverage, swapping Stone Edge leaves you hard walled by a lot of Flying-type Pokémon, and swapping Grass Knot just makes Cradily a worse version of Mud Shot/Stone Edge/Earthquake Quagsire (which is a better Great League investment anyway).

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 3 / 5

Cradily isn’t a fantastic choice in Great League, with pretty poor matchups against many the top tier Pokémon in the format. That said, if you have shields remaining when your opponent doesn’t, Cradily’s strong charged move options can allow it to deal some serious damage. For now, the Barnacle Pokémon is going to have to wait for the right Silph Cup format to really shine.

Ultra League: 1 / 5

In the best case, Cradily can beat Pokémon like Swampert, which take massive damage from Grass Knot. Most of the time, though, it will really underperform.

Master League: 0 / 5

Maxing out at 2211 CP, Cradily can’t really compete in Master League.
