PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Confusion deals superior DPS, but dodge-inclined players may prefer Zen Headbutt.

  • Future Sight is the optimal choice by every relevant metric.

  • Psybeam performs close to Psychic and tends to waste less energy by having 2 bars.
  • Last Resort performs close to Future Sight in neutral scenarios and makes Espeon a decent generalist in partly cloudy weather, but isn't super effective against anything.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Confusion can pile on the hurt with its high base power.

  • Psybeam or Last Resort are preferred to Psychic and Future Sight, since their 2 bars are less exploitable.

PVE Overview

Espeon’s arsenal of Psychic-type moves proves to be a valuable asset, both in Fighting-type raids and as a generalist. In the absence of viable Flying-types, Espeon is the good old reliable Machamp counter, while also contributing to Poison-type raids such as Gengar or Venusaur.

Espeon’s impressive Attack stat is enough to turn heads, but its success is more due to the accessibility of Eevee in comparison to other Psychic-types. Those without Mewtwo (and they are many) can fall back on a staple that is much more easily attainable than Alakazam or Gardevoir.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Confusion+Future Sight and Last Resort

Confusion is a definite advantage for any Pokemon that has it, and Espeon is no exception. It  has 4 DPT (Damage Per Turn) and 3 EPT (Energy Per Turn), allowing it to deal solid damage to anything that doesn't resist it. Future Sight (120 Power/65 Energy) is Espeon's STAB move of choice, hitting hard despite being fairly expensive. Last Resort (90 Power/55 Energy) is a cheaper and weaker option with lower damage that also gives Espeon its only non-Psychic type attack option.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 0 / 5

Espeon's stats are just not very well distributed for PVP. It fails to have much of an impact on the meta, and probably shouldn't be used.

Ultra League: 0 / 5

See Great League.

Master League: 0 / 5

At least here Espeon's strong attack and good moves can allow it to deliver some solid pain, but it's unlikely to get off much by way of charged moves.
