Offensive Moves Explanation
  • Mud Slap and Low Kick have less than 1 DPS difference between the two, so the real decision to make here is what type coverage you want.
  • Low Kick's type coverage is favorable against Normal, Dark, and Ice. These types are much more commonly found in gyms than Mud Slap's Ground type coverage against Electric, Fire, and Poison.
  • If you are lucky enough to have a Stomp Kangaskhan, good for you! It trounces other charge moves due to STAB. Kangaskhan's other legacy move, Brick Break, lacks the power to be useful.
  • Outrage is the winner for Kangaskhan's charge move, due to the huge damage it does for a two bar charge move and low resistance profile.
  • Earthquake and Crunch are poor moves going by their parameters only, but Earthquake at least matches type with Mud Slap.
Defensive Moves Explanation
  • Mud Slap has substantially higher defensive DPS than Low Kick
  • Outrage is a clear winner due to its immense strength and few resistances. It lays the hurt into Dragonite, a common generalist used to sweep gyms.
  • Stomp is a fine choice as well; with STAB and few resistances, this 2 bar move is annoying to fight. Also, it has a much earlier damage window than Outrage
  • Earthquake can be considered, but it's an easily dodged 1 bar move. Crunch and Brick Break are also viable, but nothing special.
Rating Explanation:

If you come from or go to the land down under, be sure to pick up a Kangaskhan. This 'mon has a very interesting kit that contains no STAB moves besides one legacy move. Kangaskhan has a typing and movepool that would be fantastic for defense, but its beefy HP stat is poorly complemented with middling Defense. Additionally, Kangaskhan's eclectic STAB-less movepool has the cost of impairing its offensive prowess.
