Notable Tasks
Stocking up on Bulbasaur Candies has never been easier! The Stardust is great from these tasks as well. Tangela task is a runner up only if you're missing a high IV one for Tangrowth.
Johto's tasks have brought some interesting additions. Porygon has an evolution in Gen 4 to look out for, and Scizor is particularly relevant against the current Legendary Raid Boss Regirock. Honorable mentions go to the Miltank reward for 4 Great Throws in a row.
July's lineup of quests is not anything worth writing home about. The Kanto mons available are fairly common, with the exception of two. Lickitung being available is great for those interested in saving for Lickilicky. The absence of a Ditto quest is a bit confusing since Niantic hinted at its existence.
With triple dust, any quest that yields a water encounter is valuable. Catch 2 Water type for a karp stands out as the easiest to cycle by far.
Bank your encounters and try to only catch them when a Star Piece is active.
Win a raid for a Rare Candy is fantastic and also fairly common. Target this one, but try not to hoard them. Use them quickly if possible. You want open space for Water encounter tasks instead of hoarding anything
The June encounters are generally much less exciting than we have seen in recent months The exception is Absol. Throwing one excellent for an Absol is a very low investment for a Pokémon that has only been accessible via raid. It offers a chance at a shiny and candy.
The value of 3 raids for a Charge TM varies by play style, but it may be overrated regardless. Players who consistently hit 3 raids in and a day are drowning in TMs. For those who only raid daily, it’s a fairly steep cost to hold a quest for 3 days. Its sweet spot is trainers who don’t raid too often but because of coins and saved passes will hit 3 raids in a short time.
